Yep, its that good CALL ME!!!

The 363 GT2 Mustang project was started back in 2008 with a lucky find of a 69 fastback bodyshell. From here the project was planned and detailed designed by the owner and a select hand picked group of Automotive professionals, Dustin Gregory at CPR Streetmachines, is a custom shop specializing in extreme turbo Mustangs.

The previous owner a Danish engineer, living in Copenhagen, has been helping on the build whenever a visit to CA made it possible. I can proudly say that this is not a just "checkbook build" but that he has been involved in even the smallest details.

Credits to the builders include:CPR Streetmachines, Santee CA: main build and fabrication, turbo systemBest of Show Coachworks, Escondido CA: final assembly and integrationTotal Perfomance, Santee CA: engine (mapping and dyno by Performance Associates, San Dimas CA)Elegance Auto Interiors, Upland CA: interior and stereoSoCal Paint Works, Santee CA: paint and body

Owner : design and project management, all custom carbon fiber parts, gauge clusters, misc electrical work, being in the way...

Below you can see some selected pictures from the build process. The full build is documented in a photo book CD that comes with the car.

My passion for the 69 Mustang and love of trackdays at European racetracks made me want to build the ultimate car for myself. In late 2008 I started the journey with the intent of creating one of the finest Mustangs in the world.

The original "Mission Statement": Mustang GT2 would stand for two things. First of all the Italian roots of GT (or Gran Tourismo); sportscar for the winding mountain roads but comfortable enough to travel in. Secondly for Turbo and all the modern tech. And it's a Mustang!

First look should only show a sharp restomod. The WOW Factor should come upon close inspection; under the hood, under the car and inside.

Exterior mods will include quite a few aero improvements, like trunk lid with spoiler edg, custom carbon/Kevlar front spoiler and rear diffusor, 66 Shelby hood scoop, vent gills in hood and maybe in front fenders. Interior will be as close to original as possible. Mods are fatter steering wheel (MOMO), period correct looking bucket seats, proper seat belts, modern instruments in original cluster, speakers in doors and a lot of hidden electronics like power windows, central locking, remote trunk opener, alarm etc.

Some of the visual inspiration is obviously from the 69 Boss 302 #16 George Follmer Trans Am car, now owned by Vic Edelbrock. The car is finished British Racing Green with a no expense spared paint job. In line with the overall design idea modifications have been kept subtle and most are hard to spot. But you will notice the custom made carbon fiber spoilers and air intake,as well its striking stance the vehicles sits on 275 and 315 performance tires on 18" Shelby rims. The Brembo and Cobra R brakes are also hard to hide. A 1000HP capable engine requires a very large tank sump and intercooler which are also visible from the right angles.

Enough clues to tip would-be street racers off not to mess with you. Things like deleted radio antenna, deleted trunk lock, deleted high beam headlamps, custom grille and rear qtr air intakes, recessed qtr logo, vented hood etc. are only noticed by the trained Mustang eye.

The interior is done with greatest respect for the original design from 1969. The gauges look fairly stock but they are all modern programmable and electronic. The tach includes a built-in F1 style shift light, the speedo is programmable for the precise tire size and all gauges have programmable warning lights. So you focus and rely on the shift light and red alarm lamps for aggressive driving purposes.

The seats are of a more modern design for spirited driving but have been clad and stitched in period typical leather, and so have the back seats and door skins. Racing harnesses can be clipped off at their mounting points, cross bar and door intrusion bars can be removed with quick release pins, which can effectively transform a street car into a track car.

You might not notice it until you actually sit in the drivers seat but countless work hours have gone into a natural drivers position. The seat pans are lowered, the steering column is lengthened considerably and the pedals have been repositioned closer together to allow heel-toe driving style and left foot braking. The gas pedal is the stock looking but has been fitted with ball bearings. The steering wheel is fitted with a racing quick release hub, making it removable in seconds. The stock looking Hurst shift stick looks innocent enough but hides the fact that the whole engine and gearbox have been moved back 2 inches to provide a much better shifter location for the driver. And important things like the brake balance adjuster is also within easy reach when you are strapped in. The expression "fits like a glove" immediately comes to mind when you sit in the hot seat.

Although the trans tunnel and seat floor pans have been modified extensively to fit the 6-speed transmission and custom subframe, the custom fit carpet doesn't reveal anything. And the whole bottom is lined with sound deadener making for a very pleasant noise level.

The custom SONY/JBL/Infinity stereo takes on the job of providing plenty of added noise of your choice from radio, CD, iPhone or other MP3 sources.

The engine and drivetrain have been built to withstand the continuous pounding of 800 rwhp and/or 800 ft.lb. of torque.

This is not a drag racing engine but a road racer with the power and torque curve to ensure maximum fun and drivability, but also with all the heavy duty parts and cooling to make sure it keeps delivering. Check the Specs section for a rundown of the used components.

And as you can see there is no bling - this is all business in black or silver with maximum attention to detail.

The transmission is a Dodge Viper t-56 6-speed upgraded to handle the load of the turbo engine and the aluminum driveshaft and welded 9" rear end with Torsen differential does its best to get the power to the tires.

Also be sure to check the break in dyno run below. We have a video and website dedicated to this cars build please email us for the link.

The suspension and brake system has been designed for serious track day use and the occasional run around the famous Nurburgring in Germany.

It's easy to throw on a lot of expensive parts but with complexity comes potential failure points and a very, very complex setup procedure with more possibilities for mistakes than success. Something that the build team have seen messed up far too often.

The underpinnings on the GT2 have been designed to WORK (function over form) and will perform for anything but full race duty while still being street drivable and easy to set up.

The suspension uses an aftermarket SN-95 Mustang front lay-out and a traditional leaf spring rear, however with some serious mods like a torque arm and Total Control and Koni shocks.

Brakes are from Brembo and use road/track pads for a comfortable balance between track and road use in terms of stopping power, noise and dust.Base car is a 69 Fastback shell that has been completely restored. Every nut and bolt is new, all necessary sheet metal replaced, every spot of rust fixed, sealed and primered, straighter than new. Especially the welding is noteworthy, some of the best we've seen stateside.
