1965 Ford F-350 Description

This is a 1965 Ford F350 extended bed, bought and customized with the idea of eventually being made into a RV. We ended up with too many vehicles, so now it's time for someone else to enjoy this truck. It runs and drives perfectly, but with a few quirks that come with a vehicle this old; (like a manual choke, and cable operated heater controls). The engine is the original 352 V8 paired to a heavy-duty 4 speed with a super low granny gear (basically a 3 speed). It will haul or tow just about anything, but cruses nicely on the freeway. The bed is a whopping 10' 3” by 7' 3”. It has been mildly customized with a geeky, rat rod aesthetic that is very much in my own personal taste, since I never intended to sell this truck: it was to be for traveling after retirement. New or updated items include:

  • 3 year old paint. My third paint job, and first two-tone. The original paint was sun-damaged in spots and starting to show surface rust. Shot with Zero-Rust over original paint: no bondo anywhere. Besides a couple of minor dings, the body is remarkably straight. The green is the original paint with Eastwood Patina Protect over it, and the lettering is surviving signage of the original owners. The floor-pan needed a couple of good sheet metal patches welded in and is coated with Por 15.

  • New Clutch with only a hundred miles or so on it.

  • New Heater core.

  • New Radiator.

  • In cap electronic points replacement, with appropriately upgraded spark-plugs, wires, and coil.

  • New tires on VERY hard to find six-lug radial rims. The tires I bought are designed for over-the-road trucks: the guys at K&M Auto Repair who installed them said that they will probably be the last tires I ever needed to buy for this truck. They still have some casting flash on them.

  • New weatherstripping throughout.

  • After-market tachometer.

  • Rear end rebuilt and re-geared: (when I bought it, the top speed was 45 mph).

Custom touches include:

  • Bucket seats from a Dodge conversion van.

  • Vertical exhaust with cherry bomb mufflers. (The truck sounds awesome!)

  • Side mount gas tank made from an air compressor tank.

  • Fog lamps.

  • Mud flaps with hand-made Geek-girl emblems. (Fully clothed and reading)

Included are all of the original parts removed by me: The in-cab gas tank, bench seat, and the original lock-rim, six hole wheels with good used tires and 4 year old safety tubes. (Everything you need if you want to restore the truck to like new.)

This truck is reliable and sound: I would personally drive it anywhere. Thousands of dollars and many hours of my time are invested in it. The only known issues are that it needs a new glove box insert and the wipers don't automatically park, since I couldn't find a correct replacement wiper switch for this year. This pickup is a beast, and has been fun to own.
