1999 Ford F350 CCLB 4x4 dually 7.3 powerstroke 6 speed manual trans
1999 Ford F-350 XLT Description
I purchased this truck last year to tow our 2007 40' 5th wheel RV camper but then gave the camper to our son because he had a need arise. I used the truck to tow the camper approx. 1,000 miles from northern Illinois to Texas and it pulled it great. I would not hesitate to drive the truck across the country again today. When I purchased this truck last year I honestly thought this would be the last truck I would ever buy....never dreamed I would need a larger/heavier truck....don't want to sell it but it is now too small for our camping purposes and too large for my basic pick up truck needs.
We recently purchased a larger 5th wheel camper that will require us to move up into a MDT or HDT truck as a tow vehicle. Therefore we are now selling the F350 since it is not large enough for the new to us camper. I will do my best to describe the truck and encourage you to ask any questions....I want the next owner to be happy with the purchase.
Some comments about the Ford are as follows:
1. The truck was owned most of it's life by one man who lived in Texas and North Carolina so it is free of any rust....please see the pictures, they speak for themselves. I will be glad to send any more pictures of specific areas. When I searched for this truck the most important issue in finding a truck was the fact that it is rust free. I knew other things could be dealt with but you can't "un-rust" a truck. And I am a big fan of the pre-emission diesels....so much simpler and cheaper to work on.2. I have all the maintenance records from the previous owner. The truck runs and drives great, starts every time (but you do have to plug it in in the winter, we had a few -15 degree days last winter where I could not get it to start).
3. The mileage is 235,000 but if you know the history of the 7.3 powerstroke motor it will not worry you. I change the oil every 5,000 miles and it does not use any between the changes.
4. It is the 6 speed manual transmission and it has been rebuilt with heavy duty components and a new clutch. The trans shifts great, very smooth with no problems.
5. There are airbags installed on rear.
6. I install a new B&W turnover ball hitch last year. It also has factory receiver. (I have the 5th wheel hitch I can also sell with the truck if you are interested)
7. The 4 wheel drive works great....I just had new locking hubs installed.
8. The cruise control does not work. My mechanic looked at it and thinks it needs a clock wire (whatever that is).
9. The air conditioner blows "cool" air....I think it needs recharged but I have not gotten around to testing it yet.
10. Power windows all work great.
11. Two new tires on the front....4 on the rear have good tread but are beginning to show age.
12. The gears are 4:10 ....so the is great for towing. Pretty sure it has the locking rearend (I spun both rear wheels several times in the yard be accident)
13. You will get 9-10 mpg towing ..... 14-15 mpg normal driving
14. Aftermarket JVC stereo installed with two large speaker installed behind rear seat.
15. The body is in great condition....has normal wear and tear for a truck this old. Paint is in good condition. Absolutely not a show truck but still very presentable. This will make someone a great truck for many years to come.
16. Clean/clear title with no problems
17. Brakes are great....new on the front. Steering is great, tracks down the road straight.
18. Has a roll up tonneau cover
19. 172" wheel base ..... standard 8' bed ..... RV light plug in bed. I was planning to clean up the truck bed and do a spray in bed liner but haven't done it yet.
20. I do have a Lance slide in truck camper that can be sold with the truck if you are interested.
21. I will consider some trades and offers..smaller truck....MDT or HDT....???
I have tried to be very honest with the description of the truck and mention the good and bad. If I have overlooked anything please feel free to email/text/call me.
