1965 Ford Mustang Description

There's no getting away for a pure metal bad boy like this. With that extended front end, custom tube frame, and a rebuilt 428 Cobra Jet under the hood there's a heck of a lot of custom work on this 1965 Ford Mustang. It's just on the right side of legal that you can still hang a license plate on it. We won't even pretend for a moment that this is the pony car that got you through high school. This full custom build was taken down to bare metal to show off its industrial toughness. The iconic '65 Mustang appearance has been given an extra does of machismo with a long and lean extra six inches built into the front end. Plus, the lowered stance on extra wide rear wheels instantly announces its all-conquering intentions. There is a grit to this coupe that tells you it eats its "secretary's car" siblings for breakfast. But when you look closely, you'll realize that when a car gets taken down to bare metal it can only use the best panels. Best of all, this has all been coated with Gibbs protectant, so it's forged-in-fire attitude can endure.Inside is the same tough metal attitude that's purely built for robust function, but you have to admit its polished presence is soooooo cool. The inner door panel metal has been stamped to simulate the Mustang's vinyl pattern, the rear seat has been replaced with tubbed rear wheel arches, and the radio is now just bolts and a VIN number. Any coddling feature that would add weight has been thrown out, even the carpeting. You sit in a Mustang bucket seat, grab a three-spoke sports steering wheel, and row through the Hurst shifter. A full set of SW gauges lets you know what's going on in the engine bay, and it's quite a lot.Underneath the big bulging hood is a beastly V8 heart. It's a 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8 with only about 200 miles on it since the full rebuilt. This includes plenty of performance components, like a bored 0.30 over kit, 750 Holley double pumper four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock water pump, Edelbrock 427 heads, and hydraulic flat tappet non-adjustable rockers. The full package was dynoed at the rear wheels making 299 hp and 411 lb/ft of torque. You have full control over this power thanks to a toploader four-speed manual transmission. But more than just a monster motor take a look at the undercarriage photos for a better understanding of this full custom build. If the chassis doesn't look like standard Mustang, that's because it's a custom-built square tube frame that is stronger and allows the body to be removed for easier work access. Upfront is a custom A-arm independent front suspension with adjustable coilovers. The rear is where all the power goes, and so it has been fortified with a four-link and adjustable coilovers. While you're looking at the suspension, you've probably also spotted Currie polished aluminum 9-inch housing that contains the 31-spline Traction Lok rear running a 3.50 ratio. Keeping all this power in check is the four-wheel disc brake package with BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires (including those massive 275/60R17 rear ones!)Yes, this is the coolest street-eating custom build you've ever laid your eyes on, and now you know it's built with all the right performance parts to backup its mean appearance. This is a one-of-a-kind so call today or see its taillights tomorrow!
