FORD UNIBODY F-100 Short Bed Custom Cab Pickup 1962 Hot Rod gasser SCTA RAT ROD
1962 Description
Where were you in 62? Someone was at their local Ford dealer buying one of the coolest pick ups ever built, a rare, unusual and now virtually un-findable short bed, Custom Cab, Unibody Ford F-100. I've been in old cars most of my life, and this is truly an unusual find at a realistic price. I think the reserve would about cover a decent parts truck, and I know what a challenge it is to buy anything cool anymore that doesn't need everything and is affordable. This truck was cool when new, when trucks were a thing in the 70's and is getting cooler, more valuable and more impossible to find every day.
Just awakened from almost a two decade sleep - A 1962 unibody pick-up hot rodded in the 70's. This truck was a regular cruiser for years around Dallas, was converted to a 300 CID 6 cyl, with a Clifford research 4bbl intake, headers and duel exhaust. The carb is an AFB that specs out to be from a 401 Buick. Internal mods are unknown, but it is healthy and runs good. Transmission is a three speed with electric overdrive, shifts to all gears but I have not hooked power to the OD solenoid, so I cannot vouch for it. After dragging it out of a falling down barn, I replaced the fluids, the radiator had been drained, installed a new replacement gas tank, fuel pump, filter and rebuilt the carb. replaced battery and starter, and with fresh fuel, gas and battery she fired right up!With it up and running, I replaced all the brakes, master, slave cyls and shoes, sand the brakes work better than when the truck was new, since at some point it had a power booster installed.
Body is very sound, Texas its whole life. Very little rust, small amount by corner of drivers side floor, some in the passenger side step, a little at the drip rail above the passenger door, and some beneath the battery tray. most of the body except the front fenders have original paint, desert tan color. There are some normal dings and dangs, but overall in amazing condition for a truck its age, and cool enough to basically leave alone and enjoy, or an awesome starting point for a street rod.
Now for the reality check: This vehicle is 54 years old, is not restored and not pristine. I have tried to get pictures that accurately reflect the condition. The truck is going to need things to be roadworthy and have everything work. Obviously the best thing to do would be to look at it in person. I believe that if you are reasonably knowledgeable, and realistic in your expectations, you will not be disappointed. For additional information, you can call Jimmy at (214) 743-0003. We can text you a brief video where you can hear it run. We can also possibly help arrange transport of this vehicle at reasonable cost if that is needed. This vehicle is not being sold for any other reason than that I have too many projects and need to either arrange long term storage or thin the herd. Terms of sale will be $500.00 deposit in 24 hours, full payment arranged in 7 days. please note vin and milage are not actual in description. Happy bidding!
