1996 Ford F350 Powerstroke
1996 Ford F-350 XL Description
1996 F350 Powerstroke with 74,658 original miles. Truck was sold new to the state of Massachusetts, titled to the second owner in Ohio July 26, 2013 with 64,947 miles and purchased by me September 16, 2013.
This is the second of two trucks I'm selling to make some garage space. The other is an '87 K5 Blazer - Ebayitem # 222569338940. If you read the other listing, I sold the Blazer to buy this, then bought the Blazer back and nowI have two too many black 4X4's! I've driven it a fair amount, but it's mostly a garage queen -
Motor & Transmission - original motor and transmission to the truck. Replaced the small fuel lines in the lifter valley, a new starter, new serpentine belt, vacuum pump, water pump, radiator and hoses and a new OEM transmission gasket and that's it. The only modifications are Diamond Eye 3" downtube & Diamond Eye 4" exhaust - both stainless, K&N intake and a TS 6 position switchable chip.
Front Dana 60 was leaking from theleft front inboard seal. Did all the bearings while I was in there + the aluminum front cover. Rear Sterling was leaking from the right rear, so it got all new bearings + the aluminum rear cover. Brakes redone all 4 wheels with new flex lines and stainless hard lines. Rear fuel tank is new, because it rotted out from the factory skid plate.Sending units are good, rubber fuel lines are new as is tank switching unit. Planned on rebuilding the driveshafts, but got stupid and had two new ones made with 100% Spicer yokes. Gears are 4.10 with a factoryposi in the rear. Motor runs strong, E4OD transmission shifts as it should and truck runs cool.
Suspension - These old straight axle trucks are beasts. Was told it would ride better with the Sky Mfg. shackle reverse kit. It doesn't unless you get the kit that uses newer Super Duty springs. That led to the 6.25 rear blocks, the dropped panhard bracket, extended front & rear sway bar links, custom 17" wheels and 35" Goodyear's. It still beats you up, but the truck tracks straight and it looks good. Have everything to return to stock, including the original Alcoa's in nice shape with pristine OEM caps. Frame and axles have all been sanded and coated with POR 15. New shocks to accommodate the ride height.
Interior - this was an XL work truck, so expect no creature comforts - no AC, manual windows and locks, rubber floor and the 4WD lever on the floor.Seat is like new out of an XLT with the armrest and bucket style seating. Replaced the original steering wheel (gummy vinyl) with a brand new XLT leather wheel. Floor has Dynamat under rubber cover.
Body - it's a black truck per the trim tag. Had a 10 foot repaint when I bought it.I removed the bed and tailgate and sold them. Both were relatively rust free, but beat up inside. Replaced with a bed from Texas and earlier tailgate with the stamped Ford letters. Both were/are 100% rust free, got media blasted and painted. Cab and front clip were wet sanded and buffedand look pretty good. Truck is straight. Cab corners, rockers, and front clip are original and rust free. There was some rust that was repaired in driver's floor and it's ok. If the truck doesn't sell I may cut it out and re-weld it. All new seals and rubber body mounts. Front core support was media blasted and painted. These are prone to rot out and reproductions are not available. This one is good. Has seen rain a couple times and zero snow / salt in the past 4 years. Stored in heated garage.
Other stuff - there is no warranty expressed or implied. The truck is maintained by my local shop - Moto Medic - who does a bunch of fleet diesel maintenance and has fleet of 7.3 wreckers. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I won't disclose the reserve, other than to say I paid $13,200 four years ago and the reserve is higher than that. Feel free to ask questions, send somebody to look at it, or come see it yourself. Shipping is your responsibility, but I'll assist as much as possible. I've sold cars to New York and New Jersey without drama.
