What makes the 6 door pickup different than other 9 seat vehicles is that it actually has room all throughout the cab. The back row has full leg room for 3 adults, unlike a full size SUV where the back row can get cramped. It has of these family friendly features and you still get all of the benefits of a full size pickup! And this Ford F-250 7.3L diesel has the muscle to pull a camper and a boat, while still managing great fuel mileage.
This 6 door truck has been a great ride for our family of 8. When we drive it on the interstate, people will slow down and the passenger takes pictures! We have taken our 6 kids camping over the years and the attention the pickup receives at the campgrounds is CRAZY! Total strangers strike up conversations wanting to know how and why we did it. The kids are amazed every time we drive it; they feel famous with all of the pictures people take of it! It is the perfect ride for road trips. We have owned the pickup for 3-4 years before the conversion to 6 doors, and wehave put 40,000 miles on it since we completed the conversion. This has been a very reliable pickup, which could be expected with the unmatched 7.3L diesel engine powering the way. The fuel mileage per gallon has been tremendous, as we can consistently achieve 18 mpg highway driving.
We decided to convert our 1999 Ford F-250 when we blended our families and created the modern day "Brady Bunch". The four door version didn't work anymore for all of us to go camping, to football games or anywhere for that matter! With his diverse talents, my husband engineered, fabricated, designed and built it. He has years of experience in auto body & paint, welding, fabrication, electrical, and mechanical repairs. His passion for the Ford 7.3L diesel and his confidence in the engine initiated the project. He knew that was the best pickup for the application.
This 1999 Ford F-250 6 door pickup has been our personal family ride for about 7 years. If you are interested in purchasing it and you do not win the bid on this pickup, email us at eddyelec@triotel.netfor more information. We are now building more, and there may be one that interests you. The Ford 7.3L diesel is our favorite candidate for our 6 door conversions - with its unmatched reliability.
