2000 Ford E-Series Van Custom High-top Conversion Description

Up for sale is my 2000 Ford E-350 Customized Diesel high-top conversion with many upgrades and options. I purchased this van a couple of years ago to help move my daughter and her two horses from Virginia to Wyoming. I needed a vehicle that had the power to trailer horses cross-country (non-stop), was comfortable for my wife and children (for a 40 hr trip) and one that got good gas mileage. I did some research and found that the most powerful and fuel efficient motor that Ford put in a full sized van was the 1999 to 2000 7.3 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel. So, I bought this van and tailored it to our needs. We named it "The Jackson Hole Express".
Here is a partial list of what was done:
New carpeting throughout
New second row leather seats with slide-out ottoman
Front passenger seat swivels to face the rear
I sound-proofed the floor boards, dog-house, all doors and under the hood
Installed a 4" turbo-back exhaust with 2 flow-through mufflers and a flow-through resonator (I installed the new exhaust system to keep the engine cool while towing, reduce noise, and maximize fuel economy)
I had the exhaust pipes wrapped with heat tape for heat and sound insulation
Custom cabin lighting for the rear passengers
Full-time, night-time, cabin lighting
DP Tuner with 4 tunes by Jodi - Economy, Towing, Highway, Power and it monitors over 250 functions
I had a body-shop professionally remove minor rust
Running boards
Custom interior surf board/clothing racks
I proactively installed may new mechanical parts (I have all the receipts)
Oil changes every 3 - 5k miles
This van gets just over 20mpg on the highway and is 100% mechanically sound. We have driven it cross country twice in the last two years, camped in it in national parks and at times I use it during the week around town or to take our boat to the lake. Last year, while parked in town, along the curb, it was hit in the rear by another parked car that was hit in the rear by a third car. The damage was minor. It put a dent in the rear bumper and a small dent in one of the rear doors. I used the opportunity to replace the rear bumper with a heavy-duty step bumper and had the dent in the door pulled out rather than by repairing it with bondo - see picture. Other than that, it is accident free with minor scratches, nothing noticeable. It has A/C in the front and heat in the front and rear. The van has a 10,000 pound towing capacity with the factory towing package. I installed a custom made rear bench seat that drops down into a bed but will remove it prior to selling it. The winning bidder can finish the back in whatever manor they he/she likes. I left the original seat belt fasteners and rear-bench seat bolts in place to use as tie-down anchors or to install an original Ford convertible rear bench seat. When the third row bench is removed there is enough room to put a full-sized motocross dirt bike inside and secure it. The interior could use some minor finishing cosmetic touches but is well upholstered, clean and from a non-smoking family. The tires are good for about another 20k miles. The van handles great in the snow, has an electric block heater and I will include a set of new snow chains with the van. With snow chains, we had no problems driving over Togwotee Pass or through the Teton Mountains in the snow.
This van is set up as an adventure touring van, I would not hesitate to drive my family anywhere in it. It is like a cross between a tractor, a race car and a houseboat. It is in top mechanical condition, has been very well maintained and is a blast to drive. No expense was spared when customizing this van. The 2000 7.3 motor is capable of going over a million miles without an overhaul. It is considered by many to be one the best diesel motors ever put in a passenger vehicle. I have it listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. If you have less than 5 positive transactions on ebay please call me before you place a bid.
