1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Description

This Mustang is all original. A rare unrestored survivor and has not been modified in any way. It has been in our family since my father and mother purchased it in 1970 off the showroom floor of Bob Rice Ford in Boise, Idaho. This Mach 1 has the 351 Cleveland engine with the manual transmission, close ratio 4 speed and Hurst shifter. It has the Shaker hood and hood locks.

We did not give it a mirror finish or armoral the inside interior or tires but you can see it is still in great condition and has been well taken care of over the years. Honestly that would not change what's under the hood or the fact that it is still number correct with only 49,104 original miles on it. That averages out to a little over a thousand miles a year that it has been driven in it's 47 years of existence. Most of those were in the first 10 yrs. The only thing my father did was add a stabilizer that was used in police cars back in the day which is still mounted in the trunk. It has been shown in some of the Treasure Valley Mustang and car shows in the past but not in recent years. It does need some minor repairs but we are leaving that up to a new ownerwho may want tomodifyit or a puristwho would rebuild or replace keeping it number correct. It is a great car for either. We haveappraisal papers from 2007, original owners manual plus various other documentation.

It was a daily driver for a time before it was stored. It was eventually brought out of storage and at that time it was transported to a mechanic to check and change fluids, replace points, plugs and wires. All remaining fluids were checked anda gasket replaced. The gas tank was cleaned and the original carburetor was carefully rebuilt and put back on the car. It got a new battery and tires too aroundthe sametime if I remember correctly. It was registered as a classic and my mom took it every summer to car show's here in the valley and kept it covered through the winter months.Although very few miles were put on those fluids, tires, battery and etc, that was some time ago and it has been parked for the last 2-3 years. It is time for the car to be serviced and needs new tires for sure. There is very little wear on them but they've aged. Although my father had asmall area of the undercarriage undercoated, that did not prevent rust on remaining parts. We recently took it for a short run which only made me realize how much we're going to miss it but we will cherish the memories and stories of a time past. It's time to let it go and for someone else to cherish this blast from the past pony car. Because ofour appreciationin preservation, if we kept it we feel the condition is just a little to good to make it a daily driver andthink this would be a great car for a purist since there are so few cars left that are originals. That however is just our opinion.
