DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is my 1955 Ford F100 pickup. a Ford Windsor 302 cu in V8, and from the serial number, out of a 1978 Lincoln. Has a C4 automatic transmission with a Lokar shifter on the floor, a two barrel Motorcraft carburetor, power steering, tilt steering wheel, standard brakes all around. It has 4 leaf springs. Seat is bench type with fold down middle console making it into two bucket type seats. Gray fabric, like new, no stains, discoloration or marks- same for the overhead; a black heavy canvas tonneau cover over the bed; a very good condition, clear, front windshield- no cracks or leaks. The doors close tight, no leaks. Driver and passenger side windows roll up and down as they should- no leaks. The paint is OK -from 10 feet away it looks great, but close inspection you can see scratches and discoloration, but there are no dents or dings.
I've tried to research the history of this truck, but I have almost no paperwork on it prior to my October 2012 date of purchase. I have one receipt from April 2004 listing the mileage as 8,579. When I bought the truck the odometer reading was 10,696. From it's origin to the time of rebuild I only know what the dealer I bought it from told me - that it was a stock truck until the late 1990's when it was completely rebuilt from the frame up. Apparently around 2004 the truck was sold to a classic car dealer in Portland, OR who sold it to a man from Vancouver, WA. He died in 2010 and his widow had the truck put in storage until September 2012 when she sold it back to the dealer. I bought it from the dealer in October. There is one issue that I have with the truck- the air vent in the cowling. The air vent is a nice touch on hot days, but it needs a new gasket and so leaks under the dash on to the carpet near the shifter. If I drive it in heavy rain, which I usually don't do, I put a towel on the floor under the drip. Even in heavy rain it's not bad- just annoying. New gaskets are available online. I just never got around to replacing the one that's in there. The heater works great. Has the cab warm in two or three minutes. The defroster works fine on the passenger side of the windshield, but takes about 20 minutes to defrost the driver's side. That's because there is no vent funnel on the driver's side that the defroster hose is supposed to attach to. So I have just put the hose where it's supposed to be and it blows some hot air up the windshield. I've tried to find a vent funnel online without success. I guess something could be jerry-rigged but I never came up with anything. The bed is, overall, in very good shape- solid all over. It's 1 inch plywood covered in sprayed on bedliner sealant. I have looked all over and under the truck for rust and have yet to find anything of any significance. No rotted out areas of rust or anything close to it. But I wouldn't expect anything like that on a refurbished vehicle with this few miles on it. Plus I'm pretty sure it's been garaged most, if not all, of it's refurbished lifetime. I know I've always had it in my garage. As far as body filler goes I'm sure there is some, as most of these older vehicles have repairs somewhere. I don't claim to be an expert on spotting body repairs but if there are any they did one heck of a job disguising it. All the tires have good tread on them - no cracks or damage. The spare is new and unused. The head lights, tail lights, parking lights, dome light, and turn signals all work as they should. All the guages in the instrument panel work, and all the lights in the instrument panel work except for the gas guage light. I never got around to changing the bulb in that one. Please do not ask me what type of rear end it has - I don't know. A lot of people have asked me that question, but if you have an easy way of telling what type of rear end a vehicle has, let me know and I'll try to get you the information. All receipts that I got with the truck will be included along with all receipts for any and all work I have had done. Plus booklets and brochures that I have. This truck is a joy to drive. It corners great, but keep in mind it has leaf springs all around so it rides like a truck. It's not going to be like your 2016 F250. It's an old truck. I try to drive it to work once a week, weather permitting, and it cruises along just fine at 60-65 mph the whole way. It will do a heck of a lot faster than that but we have too many unmarked State Troopers sneaking around to risk it. I'm selling this truck as a usable vehicle -not as a show truck. With some time and a minimal investment someone could make it into a show truck, but I've found it's too much fun to drive and get noticed around town rather than have it sit in a garage waiting for the next show. And you WILL get noticed. Every time, and I honestly mean every time, I have ever driven this truck someone, somewhere, wants to talk about it, ask questions and have a close look at it. So if you end up buying this truck just be prepared for that kind of attention. It's unavoidable with this ride. AUCTION TERMS:
