A rare opportunity to buy firsthand from the original builder, this 1951 Ford Tudor Custom Sedan was built by me between 1991 and 1993 and has since been enjoyed for 20,000 trouble-free miles. It is a comfortable and solid driver. I started with an intact Montana barn car, choosing to create a classic 60’s style, billet-free, all-Ford custom rod, with respect for its jet-age design enhanced by a mild chop and perfect stance. As a special value, I have all build documents, listing components so you’ll know what you have and the manufacturer. The car was awarded the Shoebox Pick at the 2003 Goodguys Great Northwest Nationals and is always appreciated at shows. Driven occasionally spring through fall, it has always been kept in a closed garage.
Body: Nosed and decked with peaked hood and cowl, 3-1/2 inch chop with slanted B-pillars, filled quarter seams, original door handles and locks. Bumpers and stock grille were re-chromed and stainless trim polished and 1949-50 taillights swapped. Ford Twilight Blue paint was professionally applied prior to assembly; it’s presentable but no longer perfect everywhere. The underside is clean and painted with Rustoleum. An Optima battery is mounted in trunk, Mustang fuel tank in trunk floor. All rubber was replaced when built.
Chassis: Original frame with Fatman Mustang II clip, tubular A-arms, Heidt’s dropped spindles, Posies dropped rear leaf springs, power rack and pinion, power brakes—ECI disc kit front, drums rear. Tires are Cooper 205/70R on 15” American Racing Smoothie chrome rims.
Drivetrain: 302 Ford engine, professionally built with balanced rotating assembly, forged pistons, blended ports, Harland Sharp roller rockers on screw-in studs, ARP rod bolts, Manley RV cam, Accel Billetproof distributor, Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold, Holley 670 cfm carburetor, Holley electric fuel pump, cast-iron exhaust manifolds, Mustang radiator, Ford C-4 transmission with 10” converter and shift kit, 8” Maverick rear with Richmond 3:00 gears, glass-pack mufflers.
Interior: Original seats and door panels professionally upholstered in 2-tone grey velour cloth and black vinyl, with grey cut-pile carpet. Controls include: Stewart Warner gauges, Moon tach, stock speedometer, Ron Francis wiring, Chevy van tilt column with LeCarra steering wheel, B&M Megashifter. Alpine radio/CD player, heater, Newport Engineering electric wipers.
