1998 Ford Expedition Description

1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. Owned by one family. Good engine that turns on every time and drives well. 150,500 miles. Leather seats. Engine should last 300,000+ miles with proper maintenance and care. No accidents. Clean Title.
Issues:
  • AC has blown hot for the last two years. I haven't checked for leaks.
  • About 15% life left on tires.
  • New brakes needed.
  • Air Bag Suspension System works, but might need to be converted to coil springs someday. If it's not driven for a week, it will take about 5 minutes for the air bag suspension system to get working. Rarely the suspension light comes on. Monroe sells a coil spring conversion kit for $200.
  • The car always starts. 5-10% of the time the car won't start immediately; it will take 2-3 turns of the key to start. This has been going on for about 3 years. So the starter might need to be replaced someday (~$150 part).
  • The front driver's side window doesn't work properly. Either the window regulator is bent (~$35 part) or the brackets just need to be reglued/epoxied. I have reglued it previously, but it came undone with the heat. I have disconnected the up/down switch for now (very easy to reconnect) and put the window in the up position with the brackets and regulator supporting it so rain won't get inside, and it won't be sliding down. The driver's side back window started having a similar issue last month, and is in the up position, and has stayed there. I have not opened up the body of the rear door.
  • The gears appear to be in "2" when it's in "D" (drive). Doesn't affect the drive.
Now that I'm not driving it every day, other issues are appearing so I'm trying to get rid of it. I.e., the battery appears to be going out. Other smaller issues include the alarm doesn't work, you have to use the key to unlock the front driver's side door, the alarm keypad will only lock/unlock the passenger's side doors and rear trunk/door, and it needs new registration this month. Rarely the "check engine" light comes on, then turns off. Not unusual for a 20 year old vehicle. I don't think it means anything.
That's everything I can think of. I've driven it about 8 years, so that is everything I know that's wrong with it. A little work on it will go a long way.
You can test drive it around the block, but that's about it as the brakes really need to be fixed at this point. I'm free all day Sunday and Monday, after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and Saturday morning if you'd like to test drive it or see it in person. I respond quickly to any questions.
