SUMMARY
2,000-hour buildWhen it comes to nearly universal appeal, few cars bring it quite like Ford's Mustang. While a lot of its competitors place an emphasis on speed, style or some other singular piece of the puzzle, the original pony car continues to thrive as a malleable definition of everything to everyone. With almost all the dials turned past 11, this wicked Mustang pro-tourer is a car that'll fulfill the needs of virtually any enthusiast. And, from its massaged Windsor and Tremec drivetrain to its tailored red and leather aesthetics, pretty much any spectator with a pulse will find something to admire!
BODYWORK/TRIM
Hailing from a fresh, 2,000-hour build, this razor-sharp 'stang wraps Metallic Red 2-stage around fresh Dynacorn metal and an aggressive Mustangs To Fear Eleanor body kit. The first thing that draws your eye is a domed, Shelby-style hood that features trick, flush-mount lanyards. Beneath those lanyards, an Eleanor-style front clip positions Eleanor-style lighting around clean billet grilles. At the sides of those grilles, a shaved and sculpted profile centers mesh-filled quarter vents between bullet-style mirrors, re-imagined fenders and flared and extended rockers. Opposite those rockers, a flush-mount greenhouse founds a racing-style windshield and 1-piece door glass between shaved wipers, chrome drip rails and mesh-filled pillar vents. And at the back of the car, re-imagined quarters hang a tucked bumper beneath a flush taillight panel and billet fuel filler.
ENGINE
Hoist this coupe's lightweight hood and you'll find a proven 351 Windsor that, thanks to the pros at Maricopa, Arizona's Levy Racing, has been been stroked to a whopping 408 cubic inches and built to an impressive 522 dyno-proven horsepower! At the top of the deep red mill, a polished air cleaner funnels oxygen through a color-keyed Holley XP carburetor, which is sequenced to a modern throttle linkage, braided fluid lines and a liquid-filled Allstar pressure gauge. A resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from an Edelbrock Super Victor intake to proven Brodix heads, which ride under polished breathers and polished valve covers. When those heads flood the cylinders, a slick MSD distributor sequences spark between an MSD coil and thick Moroso Ultra 40 plug wires. Spent gases roar through custom, ceramic-coated headers. Cooling is provided by a beefy Be Cool radiator, which rides between a polished support cover, a fabricated expansion tank and two chrome-capped SPAL puller fans. A polished alternator spins opposite modern power steering and a coated AC compressor thanks to stylish Concept One pulleys. And overall, the car's glossy gray engine bay is exceptionally well done; featuring cool details like trick dipsticks, braided fluid lines and hydraulic Ringbrothers supports.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
The bottom of this awesome Mustang is just as impressive as its slick exterior and smooth powerplant. Behind that smooth powerplant, a tough hydraulic clutch engages a slick Tremec 5-speed, which spins a Coleman Racing driveshaft. That tube jerks a Chassisworks FAB9 rear end, which laps a Traction Lok differential around Strange 33-spline axles. The car's already competent suspension was completely swapped for a full Chris Alston's Chassisworks set-up that makes excellent use of quality VariShock coli-overs. That dropped hardware was augmented with stiff subframe connectors and Total Control Products power rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is equally class, with a Wilwood master cylinder feeding Wilwood 4 and 6-piston calipers, which cinch four drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to a custom, large-diameter exhaust system that backs an X-shaped crossover with polished Magnaflow mufflers. A steady stream of fuel is provided by an electric Mr. Gasket pump, which drains a custom, 17-gallon tank. Detail items, like a deep-sump oil pan and undercoated wheel wells, flesh solid floorpans that are decked in glossy gray pigment. And everything rolls on polished Boze Shifters, which twist 235/35ZR19 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 285/30ZR20 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As.
INTERIOR
Pop the car's electronic doors and you'll find an attractive, well-rounded interior that mixes vintage Mustang design with modern, 21st century comfort. Front and center, snug SCAT Procar buckets stretch versatile leather under RJS harnesses. Opposite those seats, a body-matched dash props factory padding above Classic Instruments Velocity telemetry, modern Kenwood audio and controls for the car's Vintage Air climate system. At the foot of that dash, a custom console founds a traditional shifter on fade-free carpet. At the edges of that carpet, custom side panels hang billet handles inside color-keyed frames. Above those panels, a sculpted headliner backs a color-keyed roll bar. In front of the driver, a sweet Billet Specialties steering wheel spins a half-wrapped rim around a tilting Flaming River column. And behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered trunk features clean billet hardware.
