Let's get this out of the way right off the bat. Why am I selling this one of a kind 2001 F-250 Platinum Crew Cab Long Bed ? It's very simple, my father has Alzheimer's and the expenses related to his care are increasing quickly. It's the right thing to do for him.
Here's how this truck came to be:
At the time I owned a 2001 Platinum and my dad liked it so much he wanted one. But, he wanted a long bed which was not an option on the Platinum. We looked around and finally found a Platinum that had a work box on the back (which we knew we were removing) with 201,231 miles in Texas (I know! Don't all trucks come from Texas? LOL) We bought it, had it delivered and to our surprise, although it was filthy dirty, overall it was in great shape! We located a long bed crew cab frame in New York, picked it up and began the transformation! We disassembled the frame completely and cleaned and coated it and put it back together. Meanwhile the Platinum truck was completely disassembled and I mean completely. We stripped the cab, doors, dash, everything. Everything was disassembled, cleaned thoroughly, touched up (if needed) replaced (if too bad to fix), then reassembled. When we located a 2008 take off bed in rust free good condition we purchased it and brought it home to install. We then installed the complete body on the fame, lined everything up and sent it off for paint. The body shop painted the entire truck while it was just a shell because we did not want to mask anything off and cause tape lines and marks. Our full intention was for this to be his truck to last through the rest of his life so attention was paid to every detail and fixed with that in mind.
Fortunately, he was able to enjoy driving it for about 3 summers until the Alzheimer's got to the point he couldn't drive anymore. It was stored during winters since he had a plow truck and only was driven in the snow one time when we got a surprise snow in late October one fall. Since that time it has mostly sat inside my shop until this summer at which time I installed the front lift and bigger tires and wheels to my taste and drove it mostly everyday.
Now it's time for it to find a new caring home so we can move on dealing with my Dad's tragic disease. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please message me if you have any questions whatsoever.
