1962 Ford Ranchero
144 straight six, 4 speed manual (four on the floor)
I purchased in September 2015
Head was redone before I got it along with new starter motor.
Odometer reads 15,XXX but probably more like 115,XXX
Previous owner did the mechanical restoration and one prior to him did the bodywork and interior. Both are far from show-car level but great for a daily driver (as it's been for me).
Runs beautifully and never given me any issues aside from transmission (which was rebuilt recently).
Work I've done. Brackets show how long ago it was carried out.
Rebuilt carburetor / tune-up (2 years)
Rebuilt transmission and new shifter (6 months)
New oil pan gasket (6 months)
New radiator, reservoir, thermostat, gaskets, hoses, and pump (6 months)
New front wheel bearings (6 months)
New sway bar bushings (2 months)
New stabilizer bar ends (2 months)
Replaced horn relay, and cables (2 months)
Replaced weather stripping for both doors (12 months)
Front suspension replaced (2 months ago)
Installed front indicators behind the grill (2 years)
New dash speaker and radio antenna (2 years)
Delayed dimmer for interior light (1 year)
Spare tire, from Wheel Vintiques, and installed in the bed (1 year)
Maintenance wise:
Oil changed every 6 months
Rear diff and transmission oil changed (12 months)
Spark plugs replaced (2 months)
Comes with:
Rear wheel bearings (unsure when last changed)
New heater switch/cable in the dash (works as is but a little loose)
Replacement bulbs for dash - one or two are out but don't affect usability
Nothing needs to be done at all but on my list of to-dos:
Replace ball joints
Check/replace rear brakes and wheel bearings
