1931 Ford Model A (indented firewall) used in the Made for TV movie the Thornbirds. I purchased the car from the granddaughter of the gentlemen that owned it in Hawaii where the movie was made. A couple of the photos shown here are when they owned and showed it in Hawaii. There is a sign on the door referring to the movie. I also included an image from the movie itself which shows the unique windshield frame and moldings which are still on the car. When I stripped the car to paint it, I found the original blue paint from the movie on both the hood and cowl section.
In the past five years I have had a rebuilt motor put in it as the bearings were shot in the motor it came with. A gentlemen here in NC did the work which included new poured babbitt. The original motor was either a commercial block or someone removed the numbers (no grind marks that I could see). I still have the motor if the buyer wants it for an additional $200.00, as it still turns freely. A new radiator and clutch were added along with the new paint. I added a removable Plexiglas rear window to help cut down the draft during cold periods, which worked very well. I even etched in the Thornbirds logo on it (shown in one of the pictures). The car has fiberglass fenders front and rear. I had no ambition to fancy up the car, since I think it looks better as a working vehicle. I have too many cars now and no time to enjoy this one, so off it goes! It is fun to drive with all the attention it gets!
