1960 FORD F-100 Flareside Short Box.
Regretfully, life circumstance dictates that my “Fridge” has to go!
The truck is very original. It is powered by a good running 223 six cylinder coupled to a three speed column shift transmission. The truck has had a few repairs over the years and was painted more than twenty years ago. The odometer reads 142k and that is about accurate judging by its condition. It has had very few modifications from stock. I have no way of knowing of any engine or transmission repairs other than the obvious. It is apparent that the truck was well cared for.
The truck was a project that never really began for the previous owner. Although it sat most of the twenty years that he owned it, it was started on occasion and driven on his property or in and out of the garage. A worsening medical condition forced him to sell.
Recent items changed, added and work performed include rebuilt carb, reupholstered seat, new taillights, headlights, front turn signals, oil change engine and transmission, tires, stainless caps and rim rings, exhaust gasket, push rod cover gasket, valve cover gasket, fuel filter, clutch and slave cylinders along with new line, inside door handles (not as nice as original but all that was available) and some repainting here and there. The rear end was changed out to a 9 inch from another 60 F100 (a runner/Fantasy Fords) new NAPA drums, shoes and cylinders were installed. The engine runs strong but does puff a little smoke on start up.
Windows go up and down, doors open and close, brakes and clutch work fine. Front brakes will need attention soon. The front wheel bearings were repacked. Doors open and close good. Wipers work (vacuum) but need blades. Heater fan works but needs ducting hose and heater hose valve. No headliner, dome light works. Fuel gauge stopped working recently.
The truck isrelativelyrust free other than surface rust. It looks like the cab corner was worked on. The frame has some surface rust but no detected damage. The paint is cracking and peeling in places. The body is very straight.
The truck is very close to original and would be a great candidate for further restoration or continued as a Sunday driver project. This is a wonderful rare truck with an increasing popularity. A survivor with 50 plus years of service and overall a good solid truck. Drive it as a rolling project or fully restore this classic F100.
To go with the truck (not installed) is a new wood bed kit.
This Vehicle is being sold in “as is” condition with NO WARRANTY IMPLIED.
I have described this 1960 F100 which I am Title holder, to be as accurate as possible. There may be unforeseen issues not yet discovered as with any vintage vehicle without complete disassembly.
See it drive here.
