Ford Sterling 10.25 Custom Rear Differential
  • Fully rebuilt by M.I.TDrivetrain Specialists in El Cajon, CA
  • 4.88 gears

  • Mag Hytec diff cover
The stock 8.8 rear was removed and replaced with a customized Ford Sterling10.25 rear. The 10.25 ends were cut off and ford 8.8 were welded on. This was done to shed weight and use the same 5.5 lug pattern to match the Dana 44 up front. It provides a lot more housing strength than the 8.8 which is known for having axle tubes crack near the diff housing. It also allows the reuse of the 8.8 drum brakes. All work was done by M.I.T Drivetrain specialists in El Cajon CA.

Additional Notes
  • Purchased this truck in San Diego, CA with 93K miles on it in September of 2003
  • Superlift Speed Calibrator is installed so that transmission shifts correctly with new gearing and tire set-up
  • Only 8k miles have been put on the new drivetrain parts since being installed in 2005
  • Tires have approximately 1000 miles on them; all tire sprues are still present (see pictures)
  • Was never driven during winters on the East Coast
  • No rust anywhere, except some minor surface rust on the bottom of the front bumper, on the certain parts of the exhaust, and the gas tank skid plate
  • Frame rails were painted with rubberized paint
  • Both differentials were painted with POR 15 paint.
  • Ignition key cylinder and all key locks were replaced when I bought this truck at 93K miles
  • AC system currently does not work (needs to be charged)
  • Engine compartment was not repainted when truck was painted with the BMW Black Sapphire Metallic. All door jams and tailgate were repainted.
  • There are no dings or dents in the body of this truck.
  • Paint is 7/10. Does have a few small chipped areas where the fender flairs meet the body. There are also a few chips in the paint from small pepples/stones bouncing up from the road or tires.
  • There is an open recall on the truck for the cruise control harness. I brought the truck to the Ford dealership and they disconnected the harness until the parts come in. I'm still waiting for a call from them and will have the new harness installed before shipping if they come in.
  • As per eBay motors guidelines, I must declare that the truck is being sold "as is" with no existing warranty. I will not except returns. Vehicle shipment is contingent on the payment clearing in full.

As mentioned above, I have over $25K invested in this truck, not including the $11K I originally paid for it. I have receipts for the following, most of these prices are from 2005 and do notrelect on today's current prices. Most items will cost more now.
  • Front differential, rear differential, transfer case, drive shafts ($8963)

  • AGR Rockram Steering kit ($1200)

  • Exhaust ($500)
  • Differential covers ($500)
  • Fender flares ($400)
  • Accumulated smaller misc. items ($1000)
  • Optima Yellow Top Battery ($220)
I do not have receipts for the following items, these are the ballpark 2005 prices that I paid:
  • Paint and body ($2500)
  • Straight axle conversion kit ($1500)
  • Front Skyjacker coil springs ($200)
