1967 Ford Mustang Description

Take a good, long look at this incredible 1967 Ford Mustang fastback, because it's special for a whole lot of reasons. One, it's got just 12,460 original miles (nope, not a typo). Two, it wears special-order Poppy Red paint which wasn't available in 1967. Three, it's loaded with options, including factory A/C. And finally, it's an S-code 390, making it a GT in all but the badging. Yeah, I thought you'd be interested. For fans of the unusual and rare, this Mustang is an incredible find. It's heavily documented, so we know that the Poppy Red is indeed this car's original color. It's bright and vivid and looks as good on the '67 fastback as it might have on an earlier model, but you should also be prepared to explain to the "experts" why it looks like it does. It has been repainted once and is now in the kind of condition where the line between repaint and original is kind of blurry, so if we hadn't just told you about it, you might believe that's 1967 enamel on its spotless sheetmetal. The body gaps are as the factory set them and aside from a ding on the driver's front fender, it's completely unmarked. This car has lived a charmed life, that much is clear, and as a special-order car that shouldn't be a surprise. All the chrome and stainless trim is original and in excellent condition, including the bumpers and rocker panel trim which usually get hit the hardest. Go ahead, look it over carefully. You're going to be very impressed. The black interior is completely original and with so few miles, you shouldn't be surprised that it looks as good as it does. The front bucket seats show some very, very minor comfort marks but no damage or other signs of age, the carpets are still in great shape, and the door panels don't show so much as a depression where the driver's elbow might have rested. If we had to find faults, the chrome on the horn button isn't perfect anymore, but man, that's a small nit to pick. The gauges are bright and clear, the stainless trim on the console is still shiny, and even the "garage" storage bin looks like new. You'll note factory A/C in the dash and an AM/FM radio that still pulls in stations loud and clear. The fold-down rear seat looks great and the trunk is immaculate with a proper plaid mat and original (yes, original) spare tire.We have every reason to believe that's the original, numbers-matching S-code 390 cubic inch V8 under the hood, although Ford made it almost impossible to be sure. With so few miles, it's never been open and runs the way only a great survivor can. There's a crisp burble from the twin tailpipes and the Ford Blue paint on the block and air cleaner make this one easy to identify. All the little details are still intact, making this an incredible competitor in preservation classes, and it moves the fastback with genuine authority. Underneath, it's completely original and reads like a road map for future restorers. The exhaust has been replaced, but otherwise it remains completely original, right down to the ORIGINAL F70-14 whitewall tires on factory steel wheels with wire wheel covers.Documented with the original dealer invoice and owner's manual, this incredible Mustang is a must-have for any collector of unusual and potent Fords.
