VIDEO DRIVE OF THIS '56 FORD SUNLINER SHOWN ABOVE ^^

I am proud to showcase this beautiful 1956 Ford Sunliner. This car was built by a well-known Ford enthusiast in the Grand Rapids, South Dakota are, Al. His personal car, it has been driven 5,000 to 7,000 miles since the extensive restoration was completed approximately 20 years ago. This gentleman, Al, has accumulated over 35 trophies with this car, most recently Best Ford at the Historic Route 55 Fun Run. There were hundreds of competitors at this event alone. Al and his wife Carol are true car enthusiasts and expect this car to go to a good home.Al has restored 22 classic Fords to date and has over 35 years experience in the restoration of Fords. This Sunliner has been garage-kept and well cared for both cosmetically and mechanically.

After years of trophies won, and many miles of highway covered, it has been decided that it is time to offer the car for sale. That is where I come in. A Texas newcomer to South Dakota,I hope you enjoy my presentation as much as I enjoyed visiting with Al and Carol, my tour guides of the Black Hills, and my new friends. If you bid early and often, I might add a buy it now at any time. View my 100% positive customer feedback and bid with 100% confidence. - Sam 972-748-6389

That is Rapid Creek in the background of the above photo. Also, note the fit of that top and the window glass, superb.

We visited Mount Rushmore, logging over 100 miles during a day in late June, 2016. This car is a proven road and show veteran. Note the shine and straightness of the sides and this '56 Sunliner's younger sister, a Dusk Rose '57 Thunderbird.

The Black Hills of South Dakota are just gorgeous, especially in this classic '56 Ford convertible.

The paint and body are in excellent condition. The car was long-block sanded and as Al explains, this is important to achieve a true straight finish. This was a solid original car to begin and was completely disassembled and restored approximately 20 years ago. Note the fit of the doors, trunk, and hood. The stainless is in excellent condition front to back as are the bumpers. The window glass was replaced throughout and is in excellent condition as are the rubber weatherstrip seals, window seals, etc.

The interior upholstery is original style by ABC. The blue material is not low grade vinyl, this is a special canvas-type vinyl to replicate the original. The upholstery is in very good condition. The seat cushions were replaced. Note the correct front seat assembly for a Sunliner convertible. These seats have a specific contour to the seat backs.

The dash showcases excellent paint and original instruments throughout. The door panels are in excellent condition as are the arm rests. The door undersides are excellent. Note the updated AM/FM digital Ford stereo, we also have the restored faced original AM radio which is included.

The underdash tissue dispenser is a factory FORD accessory and not very common.

The identification plate is in place and legible. This car shows a production date of November 22, 1955 and is finished in correct Bermuda Blue & Diamond Blue with Medium Blue & White Vinyl upholstery. It is powered by the 292/202HP 4V Y-Block V8.

ALL of the brightwork on this '56 Ford is just beautiful, in excellent condition.

Under the hood is the previously rebuilt and smooth running 292 4bbl. Y-Block V8. This engine has an updated Carter 4bbl. carburetor and is tuned well. We do have the original tea pot style 4bbl. carburetor, intake manifold, and standard valve covers that will be included with the car. These finned aluminum Thunderbird Special valve covers really dress up the engine bay. The firewall, inner fenders and core support is in excellent condition. You can tell this car was disassembled and done right. This isn't a car that was put together to resell. The car was specially built to drive and show and it has done these tasks extremely well to date.

This was my star-studded greeting at my Hotel when I arrived in Rapid City, South Dakota, Al and Carol and their star cars.

The dark blue top is by ABC and shows as new, excellent fit to the material. The door glass and doors align correctly as well.

The top frame is in excellent condition. During the restoration, Al notes, you just have to replace everything with these power tops. The motor and cylinders have been replaced along with the lines.

This is just a beautiful car. I don't know what else to say. Enjoy the photos and be sure and play the video. We took a beautiful tour of the Black Hills in this car.

This is a very straight car with original sheetmetal front to back.

The door undersides are excellent left and right as are the rocker panels, lower quarters, fenders, lower door edges, you name it. This is a great car.

The undercarriage is in excellent condition. Although the engine was rebuilt less than 7,000 miles ago, the rear main seal was recently replaced. The car is dry underneath. Al replaced the floorboards in this car with correct Ford steel front to back, sealed in at the seams. The frame is in excellent condition front to back. The Ford automatic transmission is water-cooler for reliability while the differential is a later stout 9-inch. Al explains this was done to aid in acquiring parts as needed. Remember this is his personal car. The fuel tank and sending unit was also replaced. Glass Pack mufflers for chosen for this car because they sound great with the 292.

The trunk is in excellent condition, the sheetmetal is excellent throughout. The correct mat is in place along with the spare tire/wheel and factory jacking equipment. The trunk itself is rust free as well, check out the inner lip photo below.
