1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Description

This 1962 Ford Galaxie represents a lot of convertible for your money. Full-sized cruisers don't get much cooler than this, but if it were wearing a Chevy or Pontiac badge, the price would be double. We believe the indicated 84,476 miles are authentic, and it includes a beautifully preserved original interior that's ready to cruise this summer. That turquoise finish is authentic, a color Ford called Ming Green. Repainted a few years ago and still looking brilliant, it's an unusual and fun color on the big ragtop. Ford's styling, like most of the industry, was restrained as the 1950s hangover wore off, yet they still managed to create a car with an air of sophistication. Maybe it's that long spear that runs along the flanks, or perhaps the cool ribbed tail panel, but this car looks far more upscale than its original price tag would indicate. Today, the bodywork is straight, with those massive rear quarters looking uniform, and gaps are great for a full-sized convertible that's approaching 50 years old. A lot of the chrome has been restored, but there are quite a few original pieces there as well, giving it an authentic look and offering proof that this car has always been special to someone.Covered in protective seat covers for years, the interior is extremely well preserved. Say what you will about grandma's clear plastic sofa covers, but you can't argue with the results. The seat cushions offer a unique look at 1962 automotive fashion, and even things like the door panels and carpets are in great shape. Look at the back seat, which looks almost completely unused, and the dash pad hasn't been baked by the sun. No, someone loved this car and took exceptional care of it from day one. The dash offers an array of gauges housed in an engine-turned instrument panel, and the original AM radio still lives in the dash, augmented by a newer AM/FM/cassette head unit underneath. A newer white convertible top has been installed, and features an oversized clear plastic window. In the trunk, which is great shape, by the way, you'll find the original trunk mat, full-sized spare, and a matching top boot, along with a set of fender skirts that are included with the car.Ford's 390 cubic inch V8 was the powerplant of choice for this build, and moves the big ragtop effortlessly with a great V8 growl from the dual tailpipes. The engine bay is highly original, and thanks to the relatively low mileage, everything is still in great condition. The Ford Blue air cleaner, the original radiator tank, and even a factory washer fluid bag are all still intact. It starts easily and drives well, with the 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission feeding a 9-inch out back. Underneath, it's evident that the car has been enjoyed, but there's no sign of rust-through or damage. Four relatively recent 7.50x14 whitewall tires have been fitted and wear the original hubcaps.A handsome, powerful, full-sized convertible whose originality will knock people out. Call today!
