I bought this truck in March of 2013, with about 144,000 miles on it and it has never failed to start and go wherever I needed to go. It has great traction in the snow and is a great winter vehicle.
The Good
Truck always starts, runs great and goes well- would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. 4WD works great.
AC blows cold, Heat blows hot,- gauges and all accessories work as they should.
Battery is newer and very strong. Tires have good tread.
The Bad
Check engine light is on, code is P1451, which is 'EVAP Control System Canister Vent Solenoid Circuit Malfunction' – does not affect drivability.
Typical Ford rust on bottom of doors & holes in rocker panels - See last 2 photos.
Also, within last 2 months, torque converter started to 'shudder' when trying to lock-up. This only happens when it is hot outside, like 90 degrees and up. I put in some "Dr Tranny instant shudder fix" in the transmission fluid, it helped, but it will sometimes still do it. I still drive it to work a couple times a week (24 mile round trip), and in the AM when cool out, it is fine, on way home it may do it a couple times- it almost feels as if the motor is 'missing', but not showing any codes except for P1451. If you turn off the O/D switch on the gear selector it will stop. Selling it with known problem.
I have dislosed all the problems I know of with this truck- I bought another older, classic truck in April, with the plan of selling this one for around $3,500, then the transmission shudder showed up right as I put it up for sale. Listing it now with starting price less than half of that. Title in hand, comes with one remote, 2 smart keys, owners manual. Truck is located in East Peoria, Il, zip 61611,- pre bid inspections are encouraged, call or text me at 309-219-1154 to set up a time to look at it. Thanks, Kevin
