1979 Ford F-250 Supercab Description

1979 Ford F250 Supercab 4WD Pickup - 77000 orig miles - 351M auto This truck has only 77,014 miles, and I am the 3rd owner. I bought it in May 1988 from owner #2, a retired farmer. The truck had 58,268 miles on it when I bought it, so it has accumulated less than 20,000 miles in the 28 years I've had it.

I bought another truck that was easier on gas when I moved here 12 years ago, and this truck has sat ever since. I didn't sell it sooner, as I had in the back of my mind to maybe fix it up, but have decided not to. I'll let someone else do that.

Truck is now rusty and crusty. Yes, those are holes in the front floor and truck bed. Ohio weather and outdoor storage is not kind to sheet metal. Oh, and since I took these pictures, a section of the headliner has fallen down.

I doubt that it will now run, since it's been sitting for so long. Before I parked it, it had been used very sporadically, and there already were things that needed attention then, which I'm sure have completely failed by now.

  • The carburetor was leaking. Not sure where, but may be the throttle shaft in the throttle body, which would probably require another carburetor. Could be the gaskets in the carburetor, though.
  • The brakes were getting very stiff, and I would have to pull back on the brake pedal to get them to release. Add the sitting time, and I'm sure you're looking at a complete brake job. I've never done one to the truck since I've had it.
  • Only the one gas tank was working, and the valve to switch between the tanks was no longer operational and was bypassed.
  • The exhaust system is virtually gone. The front Y-pipe is there, but there is a leak at the manifold.
  • The tires are now old. I bought them just after I got the truck, and they have held air all this time, but they're over 25 years old.

The cap is included, but if you don't want it, you're welcome to leave it here. If you do want it, be sure to bring something to clamp it down to the bed with, since it is just sitting on the truck, and I don't have clamps for it.

Bring a big trailer - don't forget this is a long wheelbase. I'll have the tires aired up, so it will roll ok.

The truck is not a creampuff, so maybe you want it for parts only. Shipping - Payment

2. Payment is expected within 3 days. After 8 days, I will file with eBay to have my auction fees refunded. If there is a problem with 3 days, please let me know, as I am not unreasonable, and I know that things happen. Just be aware that having been on eBay full-time for several years has already afforded me an opportunity to hear a lot of "creative" stories.
