1956 Ford Cabover Coe Custom Cab C-600
Selling with no reserve
First of all, I'm not a Ford guy. I don't have anything against them, it's just that I grew up with Chevy's and Dodges, so if I get something wrong - that's why. I don't normally buy Ford's due to the general lack of knowledge on them, but I couldn't pass this one up. Old Cabovers of any make just have a great look. Theyare so ugly they're cute. I did de-code the Vin to confirm some details, and I will say that this is much easier with a Ford than a Chevy. C600 cab forward, V-8 272, 1956, built in Louisville. The gentleman I purchased this from said it had a 292, I assume he meant 272 as this is what the vin says.
This truck was originally purchased by a coop in Southwest Kansas, and then sold to a farm in the area. They used this truck for years at harvest time, until approximately 1990. A wire shorted out in the engine compartment, which caught the carb on fire. They put it out immediately, but the truck sat in that spot since 1990. This was NOT a cab fire, or complete engine fire, it simply burnt a few wires, a fuel line, and the hose from the air cleaner to the carb. Unfortunately, mice found the carb a good place to build a nest, and engine is stuck because of this.
This truck is in amazing condition for sitting outside all those years.Southwest Kansas is pretty dry, and that helped a lot. This truck has very minimal rust. The only spots I have seen are quarter size spot on driver cab corner, and a little in the driver windshield pillar. The floor is solid, but has some pitting. This truck is very complete. The seat goes with the truck, I just took it out to showthe floor. Seat will need to be reupholstered. Please keep in mind that this was a farm truck all of its life, so it does have its dents and dings, but is a great survivor. I try to take good pictures from all angles. This truck will be sold with aState of Kansas Bill of sale, as the title hasn't been seen in years. I will be happy to help provide any paperwork you may need for your state. I ameasy to work with on storage as long as paid for in a timely manner. I have a forklift and equipment to load, and truck rolls fine, tires hold air, etc. I hauled this on a 16ft trailer with 5500lb axles behind a 3/4 ton pickup with no trouble. I can also cut frame behind the cab if that is all you are after, although this truck does have a good steel floor bed and hoist. Above all else, I want you to know exactly what you are buying, so please call or text Cort at 620-786-5172. I will be happy to answer questions or send additional photos. This is a hobby for me, and I do have 100% positive feedback, so bid with confidence. Thank you and good luck!
