1989 Ford Mustang GT Description

1989 Ford Mustang GT Convertible - 7,406 Miles - Collector Owned - None Better
This beautiful 1989 Mustang GT is part of a 60+ car private collection in Austin, Texas.
Sold brand new on June 9th, 1989 by Rich Ford in Albuquerque, NM, this car remained under the care of its original and very fastidious owner for more than 20 years until I acquired it in October of 2012. Special ordered in stunning Regatta Blue over Titanium, this incredible car had been driven only 7,297 miles at the time of my acquisition.
As you would expect from an ultra low-mileage vehicle, the car is simply spectacular in every way - as close to a new Mustang GT as you'll ever find - and truly an investment-grade vehicle in all regards.Under my ownership, the car has been maintained at my private facility in Austin, TX where it has been serviced by my personal staff who maintain all the cars in my collection. As of today, the car shows 7,406 original miles. Please allow for a few more miles as the car is available to be test driven by interested parties.
I cannot say enough about the extreme originality of this car. The original owner considered it his dream car and treated it accordingly. Just a few examples of the care he lavished it include:
The car's single modification from factory spec was a dealer-installed, period correct alarm including the optional pager (which still works). The original owner was so particular about the alarm installation that he would not allow the dealer to drill a small hole in the center console to mount the LED and instead left the LED dangling on a short wire protruding from the edge of a trim piece to the left of the radio.
When delivered new, 1989 Mustang GT's included a stereo demonstration cassette of 1980's music entitled Mustang Magic. And when you open the center armrest console of this car you'll see that not only has this rare cassette been preserved, the original owner also preserved the foam padding placed in the center console at the factory to prevent the cassette from rattling prior to delivery.
The car has never seen rain. Ever. If there was even the slightest hint of rain in the forecast, this car was staying safely tucked away in its garage. I'm proud to say I've continued this tradition (not that it ever rains in Texas anyways).
I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country tomorrow. Along the way, I'd make sure to hit a few tracks just for fun and I'd do my best to find and enter a local car show (which I would win). I believe this car to be among the finest, if not the finest, of its kind available anywhere in the world andan instant contender at any preservation class concours in the country. If you've been searching for a very special car, I urge you to consider this beautiful example. Further information is provided below.
Mechanicals:The car starts, stops and drives exactly as you would expect. It pulls hard, revs smoothly and runs cool with excellent oil pressure even in the 100+ degree Texas summer heat. The clutch is strong, the car shifts precisely and brakes easily and in a straight line. There are no oil leaks or smoking from the engine. The car has never been involved in any type of accident or collision and is 100% rust free and as clean and solid as its low mileage suggests. Everything in the car works as it should - lights, switches, wipers, gauges, everything. The car is, of course, numbers-matching and the sensation behind the wheel is that of driving a brand new car.
The car still rides on its original (and beautiful) date-coded Goodyear Eagle VR60 tires that show almost no wear and, while they may not be the tire of choice for the safety-minded, it's hard not to love the extreme originality of this spectacular car.
The original AC system is intact. As I do not drive the car often, I have not kept it charged.
Exterior:From every angle, the car presents beautifully. The original paint is in outstanding condition owing, at least in part, to a lifetime in dry weather first in New Mexico then in Texas. There are no dents or scratches - not even a door ding - and the factory original paint appears closer to 27 days old than 27 years. The trim, lenses and exterior hardware are all absolutely outstanding. The car retains 100% of it's original glass including its original windshield with correct, factory markings. The convertible top is like new and beautiful.
The paint has been professionally metered and all panels measured between 3.5 and 4.3 mils confirming the original paint. Photographs of the metering session can be seen by following the link I have provided to the online photo album.
In my years of collecting classic sports cars, I have rarely seen a car of this vintage in more pristine condition or one that presents closer to new. The cosmetics of this original paint, original interior car will exceed your expectations.
Interior:The interior of this Mustang is a testament to what original, low-mileage cars should be.
The dash is perfect - free of cracks and showing no warping. The door panels are flawless. The controls and various switches are beautiful. The seats are outstanding. The carpets are spotless. The gauges are clear and bright appearing as new. The steering wheel is pristine. Unlike so many cars of the era, the original factory radio is still in the dash and functioning as it should.
I've taken the time to provide multiple, close-up photos of the interior from almost every angle. Please examine them closely and pay attention to the details. Yes, the big things like the dash, seats, and door panels all look excellent. But look even more closely at the small things. The interior details of this car are absolutely some of the best I've ever seen.
I've included multiple high-resolution photos with this listing. For more than 50 additional detailed photos, please visit:

There is a mileage discrepancy listed on the Carfax from when the car was inspected in 1998 at 6,703 miles and the technician entered the mileage as 67,003. While this is an obvious clerical error (the previous inspection in 1996 shows the correct mileage at 6,473 miles), the car still comes delivered with a notarized statement from the original owner documenting the error and the correct mileage.
