1966 Ford Thunderbird Description

1966 Ford Thunderbird 2 Door Hardtop with Landau roof390 V8 - 4 bbl - AutomaticBlack leather interior,White vinyl topSolid mechanically, Very nice cosmetically
This car is owned by a client of mine, his father passed away and left him with several cars to sell, I will be listing them over the course of the next few months.
This Thunderbird is a nice example of a well kept southern car, body is straight and as far as I can tell, has not had any body damage. The paint must be newer, and while not concours, it is pretty nice. Minor scratches, but nothing to speak of. The vinyl top is in very nice condition also. Needs right front turn signal lens. Typical surface rust underneath, nothing of concern. Surface rust in the truck area near the rear vent area, probably could be taken care of with a wire brush.
Engine: Engine compartment looks nice and clean for this age of car. Obvious work on the A/C system with an apparent new compressor and and other pipes, etc. Newer style radiator with electric fans and custom fan shroud keeps the engine cool. Engine runs smooth, but this car needs to be driven and it hasn't in quite a while, the cold start/idle circuit needs some adjusting, but runs and sounds great once she warms up. but stumbles and may die at idle, may need tuneup/adjustment and carb adjustment.- just needs a little run time and TLC. Transmission shifts properly and smoothly.
Chassis: Car steers properly, like a nice '60's car. Brakes have a leak, you can add fluid and it does fine, but you have to keep adding it - nothing obvious by looking, I suspect rear wheel cylinders.
One of the sequential tail lights does not function properly.
Interior: Pretty incredible for a unrestored car, the leather is in great shape front and back, Dash is cracked, has a cover, and includes a replacement that looks to be in better shape in the trunk. Door panels are very nice with a little lifting of the leather at the door pulls. Auxiliary gauges have been added under the dash. Carpet is a bit worn and faded... the worst of it shows up where the console meets the carpet (see pics).
This car is in very nice shape, good as a driver, and with some minor work, it could be pretty exceptional. The Odometer shows 41k miles, since the best source of information is no longer with us, I can only assume this to be correct. I don't see anything to suggest that it has more, so I am listing it as such.
