1960 Ford F-100 Description
1960 Ford F-100 Pickup Short Bed
This one owner pickup was purchased in Boise, ID from the Roy C. Davidson Ford Motor Co. in 1960. The pickup spent its life in Middleton, ID being used on a farm until I purchased it from the original owner with 105,201 miles. The pickup has a 223 Inline Six Cylinder engine that puts out 138 HP and feels like a V8. The 4 speed manual transmission is nice allowing you to drive down the highway around 50-55 mph without high RPM's. The pickup had been only used occasionally over the last 20 years being started and run. The original owner had a secondary gas tank mounted in the bed as well as a Jerry Can attachment on the passenger side bed which I removed. First thing I did was completely drain and clean the gas tank, install new rubber fuel line and filter, clean thecarburetor, install new spark plugs, install new points and rotor, flush radiator, new water pump, new thermostat, new radiator hoses, change oil with new filter, new battery, and install 4 new brake wheel cylinders.
This pickup runs and drives nicely down the road. It has good oil pressure, does not run hot, clutch is firm, shifts nicely, and does not leak oil or coolant. All of the electrical items work including the headlights, blinkers, brake lights, dash lights(Gen and Oil), horn, heater fan, cigarette lighter, and windshield wipers. This pickup was ordered without a radio and the dash is all original and not cut up. The glass is in very good condition with the only crack being in the passenger side door glass. This is anextremely solid example of a great surviving pickup with only three minor spots of rust. The first spot is on the lower drivers side fender behind the tire area and the lower passenger side fender behind the tire area which seems to be common with this body style. The last spot is on the drivers side bed right where the bumper meets the body. There is no other rust to be found anywhere. I have added some additional pictures below in the description showing the rust areas. This pickup is 56 years old and does have its share of scratches, bumps, and bruises but is a great solid pickup. This is not a brand new or freshly restored pickup and is not priced like one. It is a solid original pickup that isa great candidate for an original restoration, resto-mod, or just drive and maintain in its original form.
