1998 GMC Suburban 4x4
1998 GMC Suburban Description
1998 GMC Suburban 4wd, 159k miles, great condition.
This Suburban came from Arkansas so it is missing the usual rust you see on these trucks. The worst rust was the surface rust on the frame rails; I carefully cleaned them, painted them with POR-15, and sprayed the entire bottom of the truck with Waxoyl to preserve it. This truck has had an easy life and it shows.
This truck has been my family vacation vehicle and as such I maintain it to a high standard as I do not want to have any troubles while I am traveling. In August 2015 we took it on a 3,000 mile road trip to North Carolina and the truck performed flawlessly including one day where we drove 1,100 miles in 18 hours. I make monthly trips to southern Illinois in this and have found this to be an extremely comfortable and dependable car.
The truck comes with many upgrades including a Rhino Rack Pioneer Elevation roof rack, Warn Trans4mer winch mount, 12,000lb winch with synthetic winch rope, Z71 skid plates under the front diff and transfer case, in-cab air shock controller (with pump), and an Eaton E-locker rear differential. I have a video of the E-locker in action if you are curious to see how well it works.
As I said I maintain this truck to a high standard, here is some of the service since this summer:

This truck has the AutoTrak 4x4 system where you can select 2wd Hi, 4wd Hi, 4wd Lo, or Auto 4wd. The system works perfectly and has no issues. This generation of Suburbans has an issue with the transfer case oil pump rubbing a hole in the case (google "Suburban transfer case pump rub"). This Suburban has had that issue fixed and the transfer case was upgraded with a pump rub kit so there is no need to worry about that
The stock stereo is in place and works. The stereo has a CD player and I added a bluetooth-in so I could listen to music on my phone. There are custom cut Hexomat floor liners for the first row seats, 2nd row seats, 3rd row seats, and the cargo area.
This Suburban is in very good condition. My mechanic says it has been a long time since he's seen one of this vintage that is this clean. The truck starts, stops, runs and drives very well. The front and rear AC blows cool.
To my knowledge, the only thing that does not work is the driver's seat heater; the passenger seat heater works fine. The driver's seat is worn on the bottom. You can get a replacement cover from eBay for about $200 but I prefer leather that has a nice patina.
The truck comes with a large quantity of spare parts. The truck is currently sitting on a set of all-terrain tires with about 4,000 miles; I will also be including a set of 4 highway tires with about 10k miles mounted on the factory rims and a set of 4 snow tires with about 1,500 miles mounted on Chevrolet rims.
I have a clean/clear title in my possession. Vehicle is sold as-is and where-is.
Please note that the vehicle is listed for sale locally so I reserve the right to remove the listing.
