1985 GMC Suburban - 6.2 Diesel
1985 GMC Suburban k-1500 Description
My name is Ray and I've owned this GMC Suburban since September of 2000. Drove it to Long Island with my son from Colorado with 025,000 miles on odometer towing a car trailer and a Supra. Previous owner had installed a new odometer before my son bought it. The paperwork I have appears to show that it was at around the same time it would have rolled over to 100,000. Mileage presently reads 123.000. Had a new rear installed a year prior to my son buying it while living in Colorado. My son put a rebuilt 6.2 in it with 4,000 miles on the rebuild when he bought it from the previous owner after the motor blew and the previous owners wife told him to sell it.We blew the transmission while driving back from Colorado in New York while paying the toll at the Throgs Neck Bridge. Made it home that night after it cooled down, but the tranny was done. The drive train has about 100,000 miles on it.New rear in Colorado. Rebuilt engine installed while still in Colorado. I had the transfer case and transmission rebuilt by Bayport Transmissions in Bayport, NY.Truck was repainted in 2005, all the moldings were removed and tailgate was changed. It was stolen on March 8, 2009 from behind my building and found by my garbage man after being used as a battering ram to crash thru glass doors and steal tv's and electronic equipment. The damage was minor, the sun-roof no longer opens and the gas tank has a dent, but other than those 2 things everything else was repainted and replaced. Passenger fender was damaged beyond repair, so a new one was bought. Most of the paperwork I had was destroyed when it was stolen, but I still have alot of the paperwork from before I owned it and even the original window sticker. It's been barely used and driven more than a 1000 miles since 2009. Registered and insured but only used to tow my small trailer or move someone if asked.2 new batteries installed on 1-16-16.New windshield and rear tailgate window installed in February of 2016.The truck runs very good. Block warmer needs to be plugged in to start when it's cold. I changed the glow plugs with rebuilt ones a few years ago, so she starts right up when it's plugged in, even in the coldest days. Does not have a turbo, so its a little slow to get up to speed, but is a cruiser. The doors and tailgate have very little if any rust at all. The rear quarter panel and rocker panels are rotted under passenger doors. Underneath looks very good. The interior is in very good original condition. There are no rips in any of the seats and the carpet has one tear under the mat in the back seat. Tires are all in very good condition. Has a Panasonic AM/FM CD player, speakers need some TLC.A/C only blows warm and has not been charged, but did work well for the people in front.Heat works excellent.4-wheel drive has locking hubs that were installed new about 4-5 years ago and also work great as does the transfer case to shift in and out of 4 wheel drive.New Brakes and rotors were done before it was stolen and being I have not driven it much should still be like new! What I know is bad: The passenger side rear window does not go up or down. The tailgate window goes up and down from the inside switch, but only goes down from the key at the back tailgate.631-664-7851 -cell phone- call me if you are interested or want more pics, leave a message or text
