1986 GMC K1500/K10 LS Swap
1986 GMC Sierra 1500 sierra classic Description
Extremely clean square body, K15 (K10) with a 5.3 LS swapped in place of the original 305. The truck was in the same family since new until I purchased it. The miles are correct at just under 70k. I've had a lot of square body gmc/chevys and this is one of the cleanest I've come across. There is absolutely no rust, it's completely unmolested, it's never been a high school truck, and its never been an offroad vehicle. The body is extremely straight and the paint is original. Paint isn't perfect but it looks great and shines up well. The only real damage is where the sun beat down on the hood and peeled some of the paint, it's been sanded smooth and polished to prevent any other issues. If I were to do any paint work I would prob only do the hood, but thats it, it shows extremely well overall and it's hard to beat the original unpainted stuff, you know exactly what you're working with. The interior needed some freshening up but not much, I'm pretty picky with my interior so I replaced the seat, carpet, and headliner. The dash could use some love but all of these old chevys had dash problems. I would have replaced it but I haven't found an aftermarket dash that I feel is worth the investment. I put the dash mat on and it was good enough to hold me over til I decided it was time for something else. I've never been a big fan of the old 305 motor. I think it's a little bit gutless and lacks fuel economy to boot, not a great combo. I also prefer the modern convenience and drivability of fuel injection, but love the old trucks so I decided to put the two together and installed a 5.3 out of a 2002 GMC tahoe. It was a low mileage motor and has about 100k on it currently. I wasn't concerned with mileage at that number, these motors are phenomenal and will go for much longer when taken care of. The transmission is a 4l60E which was rebuilt with heavy duty clutches and shift kit to beef it up. It shifts very nice and firm. To mate it all together with the original transfer case I called advance adaptors and the sent me the proper adaptor for the transfer case and transmission so that I could retain the cable operated speedo and also have the necessary electronic signal for the computer. Everything looks and feel factory and it's a pleasure to drive. The suspension is a brand new 4" tuff country ez ride which is the best riding lift for these old chevs. I bought brand new tires in a 33x12.50 and they really fit and look great and have less than 3k miles total drive time on them as does the suspension. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but overall this should cover the majority of it. All in all you have a great classic GMC truck that starts, runs and drives like a modern truck, no cold start issues here, just turn the key and go. If you have any questions you can message me and Ill get back to you asap, thanks!

Upon further investigation I realized that I had closed the safety glasses that you can spot in picture 20 under the hood. oops!! All is normal now and the hood fits great as it should.
