2006 GMC Canyon Full Custom Description

Up for auction is an award winning 2006 GMC Canyon Crew Cab truck. This is a fully custom truck featuring an airbag suspension, custom bodywork and a completely new interior.

The truck was recently completed in August of 2016 and has only 76,683 miles, 45,000 of which have been with the custom frame under it. Call it a Mini-Truck, call it a Lowrider, whatever you call it; this truck is a Cruiser!

SPECIFICS

FRAME AND SUSPENSION

Frame was built by John Shepherd of Shepherd Chassis in Harwood, Maryland.

In front of the firewall, the frame has been narrowed 4", and behind the firewall is a completely custom 4-link suspension integrating the air components. It was built 11" longer to accommodate the 6ft bed from a regular cab Canyon. The truck rides on Slam Specialties airbags with a 3/8" Asco Manifold block controlling the flow of air. There are two 5-gallon airtanks and two Viair 480 compressors. The truck has a 6 Switch box able to control the air in each individual corner as well as the front and rear together. The truck does sit on the ground when all of the air is fully released from the airbags.

The truck can be driven low, but was not built to "drag" and be destroyed. It was being built as a street rod with a modern body. The frame is painted Chrysler Dark Titanium Metallic.

WHEELS AND TIRES

The truck rolls on 22" GM Transport Wheels that have been bored to fit the hubs of the truck. They are 22"x9.5" and have been custom painted tan to match the interior with the "lips" painted in Alsa Mirra-Chrome to give them a polished look. They have custom painted 1950 GMC Hubcaps attached to them. One of the hubcaps did come off while driving and has multiple scratches but they can be polished out.

The tires are practically brand new Nexen N3000 in 235/30/22 with less than 2,500 miles on them.
(Previously this truck had fully polished 22" Intro Vista wheels with new tires which are available to go with the truck for an additional $3,500.00).

BODY & PAINT

Custom bodywork includes a fully electric sliding ragtop grafted in from a 1996 BMW 318ti California Edition. Shaved pockets behind the door handles to retain factory functionality with custom style, LED 3rd brake light in Half-tailgate. The Half-tailgate was designed to meet the raised bedfloor. Also a motorcycle-style gas cap in the Line-X'ed bed. All bodywork was performed by Driven Fabrication and Upholstery.

The truck was painted Brilliant Green Metallic from the GMUK Color Palette by Mike Bischoff. It was pinstriped by Kobbie of Kobbies Kustoms.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The truck is motivated by the factory 2.8l 4-Cylinder connected to a 5-spd manual transmission. The only modifications to the motor have been a cold-air intake and a custom intake manifold to clear the factory hood when the truck is fully lowered. Also under the hood are custom checkerboard painted wheel tubs. The battery has been relocated under the bed floor in the rear of the truck.

INTERIOR

The factory front seats have had the headrests chopped down and both front and rear have been reupholstered in two-tone tan vinyl with Krist Kustoms Medallions. The door panels keep the theme running with a seat-matching two-tone design. The dash, all of the pillars and headliner have all been wrapped in matching material. All of the work was done by Brad Wurzbacher of Lucky 7 Rod Shop in York, PA.

A painted 1966 Chevy Impala steering wheel controls the cruising while a SinCity Kustomz shifter rows the gears. There are custom painted pieces that bring the outside color inside including a shifter surround that has also been pinstriped.

The audio system consists of a Kenwood DDX272 headunit and 4 Infinity Kappa 60.9 component speakers (mids and tweeters) powered by a 840 watt SPL amp.

MISC.

I have hundreds of photos of the entire build process if there is anything specific that you would like to see please let me know. The truck is not a daily driver but still taken out on nice days so mileage may increase slightly. The truck is located in Bel Air, MD.
