1996 GMC G3500 Mini-Bus
1996 GMC G3500 School Bus Description
Selling my 1996 GMC G3500 Vandura mini-bus. NOTE: This thing has a cracked head gasket and is currently without a serpentine belt. Needs an engine rebuild. The gasket originally cracked back in 2015 but we ran it successfully for 10k+ miles just by keeping the fluids topped off. The gasket fully blew in March of 2017 when some inexperienced drivers had the serpentine belt break on them causing the water pump to fail and the engine to overheat briefly.
Transmission is good and never had issues. Brakes are good, tires have about 10k on them, oil and filter were replaced 700 miles ago. I have paperwork from all the mechanics that have worked on it. No body rust but there is some undercarriage rust as it was used as a school bus in CT where it was subject to a lot of salty roads. Mechanics have all given the okay and never said any of the rust was structural. There is one broken panel of a passenger side window and there is a dent in the right rear corner panel.
Interior is gutted of seats. Will be cleaned out before sale and left with the stock black vinyl flooring. Ran well before and after the gasket first cracked and can get up to 75 or 80mph on the highway. Comes with 150W solar panel on top but the charge controller needs replacing.
Please contact me with any questions. I have loved this thing to death for 3 years but I don't have the time or money to get the gasket repaired.
