1997 GMC Sierra 1500 SL Description

I am selling a 97 GMC 4x4 Z71 with less than 103k miles on it. I bought the truck in very good shape other than some basic repairs needed due to not being driven a lot over a 20 year period and sitting outside. The original owner was a truck driver and on the road in his rig so this truck sat.

New bearings, differential seals... and I had the front and rear differentials serviced and filled with synthetic gear oil. I had the truck professionally repainted the factory Laguna Green Metallic - no damage or rust just oxidation. I had a spray in bed liner installed. The truck has a new 2.5 inch lift with brand new (period correct) 16x10 Eagle Alloys and 33x12.50x16 BFG Goodrich All Terrains. This truck is a SL so it has roll up windows. It has cold AC and cruise control that works. It has the factory stereo. It is relatively rare because it is a factory 5 speed (that is why I purchased the truck and if I do not sell it I am okay because I know I cannot replace it).

These trucks are becoming more collectable and if you want and incredibly cool period correct 97 then there are not many (if any) nicer then this one. I do not know how to price this truck so I will list with just a reserve. If you have questions or are a serious buyer you can contact me at (770) 375-0840; the truck is in the Atlanta, GA area.

I also have a 2017 F250 with a 6" lift on 22' wheels with 37" tires - this 97 gets more attention and compliments then the F250. Everyone likes this 97 GMC...

This truck is as good as NEW - I would drive this truck anywhere as is. It is as close to perfect as you will find for 1997.

New Components:

  • Brakes
  • Tie Rods
  • Ball Joints
  • Wheel Bearings
  • Shocks
  • Wheels
  • Tires
  • Paint
  • OEM correct headlights
  • OEM Z71 decals - not cheap online decals
  • Tail lights
  • Cab Light
  • Turn Signals
  • Molding - Body Trim
  • Badging (GMC, Sierra, SL...)
  • Diamond plate bed caps and tailgate trim

If you can drive a manual and you want and awesome throwback truck then this is it.

I was in my early 20's in the 1990's so I built this truck based on what was popular then - I could have thrown bigger diameter wheels and such on it but I wanted it to look like it was from the 90's.

I have added under carriage photos - you will see that one of the rear shocks is still the old factory bilstien. I have a brand new shock that will be put on before the truck is sold. It would have already been installed but when I purchased the 4 shocks this one was missing hardware and I had to wait for a replacement to ship. Hopefully you also notice how clean/good shape the underside of this truck is - even the factory green paint still looks good. I have not attempted to clean the underside of this truck or the engine bay because I did not want anyone thinking I was trying to hide something. This truck is simply a solid survivor. All the above being said, this is my second attempt at selling on eBay - if it does not sell this time around I plan to keep it. I regret listing it for the $10,800 buy it now price and yes I could change that or delete the post but I will honor it until the end of auction. If it doesn't sell I will continue to be the happy and proud owner.
