2003 Honda Accord LX 2.4L 4 Cylinder Automatic with FREE DELIVERY! Description

This auction is for a 2003 Honda Accord LX 4-door sedan finished in Satin Silver Metallic with the Charcoal Black interior. Free delivery up to 1,000 miles, details of which are described at the end of the listing. This Accord is powered by a 160 horsepower 2.4 liter dual overhead cam 16-valve four cylinder i-VTEC engine that has received numerous rave reviews by engineers and the automotive press for it’s high power output and excellent fuel economy. Codenamed K24A4, this engine features an aluminum block for light weight and cast-iron cylinder sleeves for maximum durability, an aluminum cylinder head for greater heat dissipation, i-VTEC (intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) variable valve timing for maximum power output at all engine speeds, roller rocker arms for reduced internal friction, multiport fuel injection for excellent gas mileage and distributorless coil on plug (COP) ignition for reliability in all environmental conditions.

The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. This transmission has a low first gear that provides brisk acceleration, while the high overdrive top gear allows for effortless highway cruising with the engine only at 1,900 rpm at 60 mph resulting in excellent fuel economy figures over 30 mpg. And remember, the Accord takes regular gas. Rounding out the Accord’s powertrain is a chassis made to smooth out your daily commute while still having fun on twisting roads. Start off with a 4-wheel double wishbone multi-link independent suspension with a front sway bar for a comfortable ride, add variable assist power rack and pinion steering for precise handling and road-feel, then finish with large front disc brakes with 4-wheel anti-lock control along with a stiffer chassis design than many other small vehicles, and you have a car that is quicker, faster and handles better than many others in it’s class.

Not only is the Accord fun to drive, it’s also economical to maintain. Most systems have low or reduced maintenance components. For example, instead of a timing belt that needs periodic replacement, the 4 cylinder Accord uses a steel timing chain that lasts for the life of the engine. (The V6 models still use a timing belt as well as 4 cylinder Accords before 2003.) It uses iridium tipped spark plugs with 100,000 mile service intervals and extended life coolant with a 10 year/120,000 mile service interval. And the Accord has a Maintenance Minder system that calculates the optimum service intervals based on how the car is driven. A car driven primarily on the highway requires less maintenance than one subject to city use with constant stopping and starting.

2003 is the first year of the redesigned 7th generation Accord and it looks nearly identical the later models up to 2007. It has been improved over the previous model in every respect, including mechanically, stylistically and safety wise. In fact, on the five categories of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test ratings of the 2003 Accord sedan, it got 5 out of 5 stars in 3 categories and 4 stars in the other two. And if that weren’t enough, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found 2003–04 Accords had the lowest fatality rates in the non-luxury midsize sedan class!

The car is in great condition inside and out. It has a very clean body with a brilliant paint finish. The paint itself is beautiful and shiny and has just been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Synthetic Wax for a high gloss shine. The only cosmetic issues of note on the exterior is a shallow dent on the left fender without any paint damage, and a quarter size ding on the left quarter panel. There are no other significant scratches or blemishes, and in fact, the rear bumper looks like it was just painted and is excellent. The headlights were detailed with the 3M headlight polishing system for a crystal clear look. All the glass, moldings, trim and emblems are very nice.

The interior is in great condition as well. It has nice upholstery, dashboard, door panels and carpet with no cracks, rips tears or any major signs of wear, only a few small spots of dirt or blemishes. The headliner was just replaced. The car doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. The trunk is nice and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of. Included is set of carpeted factory floor mats in excellent condition.

Mechanically it runs and drives great as well. The car starts instantly whether hot or cold. The engine pulls strong while accelerating and throughout the cruising range and the transmission shifts are barely noticeable. The air conditioning blows ice cold. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes have no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping, and the suspension is tight. A few mechanical issues to note are a vibration at idle that feels like a motor mount. Since it’s relatively minor and disappears when the car is moving, I haven’t looked into it more. And the right front window sometimes won’t go up until you try the switch again a few times. I replaced the window motor and regulator assembly thinking that would take care of it but it didn’t, so it’s most likely the switch. It has a matching set of four Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires with good tread all around. These are sport touring tires that combine a high performance tread design with exceptional all-season wet/dry traction, extended comfort, excellent handling and long tread life. In fact, they have an excellent 620 treadwear rating and an original 60,000 mile warranty. They should be good for another 25,000 to 30,000 miles.

The car has been fully checked out and serviced with over $2,500 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Honda or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Some of the items checked or serviced include:

And finally, the on-board diagnostics were scanned and show no codes stored, and more important, that all available emissions system readiness monitors have been completed. What that means is the CHECK ENGINE light wasn’t reset in order to turn it off to hide an existing fault. If an emissions component has a bad part causing the CHECK ENGINE light to illuminate, the emissions readiness monitors will be incomplete plus the car won’t pass an emissions inspection. Some sellers will reset the CHECK ENGINE light to make it appear like there are no issues at the time of sale, but the light will come back on shortly afterwards. It can take up to 50 miles for the readiness monitors to run to completion, so the fact that the readiness monitors have been completed indicates the CHECK ENGINE light hasn’t been reset and that at the time the car was scanned, it would pass an emissions inspection. (That isn’t a guaranty that the light won’t come on in the future as a fault can occur at any time without warning, but I have put over 400 miles on the car since replacing a bad oxygen sensor without the light coming on.)

While the Accord is obviously cheap to run with it’s legendary reliability and great gas mileage, it’s also cheap to maintain, so other than routine oil and filter changes, with all the above mentioned servicing the car has recently received, you should be good to go for another 100,000 miles before requiring major maintenance.

Overall this is a sharp looking car that looks and runs great and has a clean Carfax. CLICK HERE to see the Carfax. Also, it’s been a southern car from Maryland all of its life, which probably explains why it’s so clean and has had just two owners, the last of whom, drove it for over the last 100,000 miles in less than five years. The car comes with the owners manual:

    Two factory remote keys:

And a set of factory carpeted floor mats:

If you are serious about buying an Accord of this generation, this is about as low as they go in this nice condition. It’s the first year of the new bodystyle, and so, the oldest model, thus lowest priced Accord that looks the same as a later model up to the 2007’s. Remember, you can get a great deal on Ebay with prices sometimes way below retail, but no bidder is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. Sure, you can find these cars listed here for $2,000 or $3,000, but if you have to spend another $2,000 or $3,000 in repairs after getting it home, it's no bargain. Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on soon after getting it home. With this car you won’t have to spend $1,000 or more on paint or bodywork to fix scratched or cracked bumpers or peeling paint, you won’t have to spend $500 for a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a coolant and brake flush, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a valve adjustment or any upcoming scheduled maintenance, and you won’t have to spend $300 on a headliner. With many of the other listings on Ebay, Craigslist or on dealers lots, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. Also, when comparing this Accord to the others listed, keep in mind that this car has a clean Carfax, runs excellent, is fully serviced, hasn’t been smoked in and is clean inside and out. Lastly, check if they come with both remote keys because a new one from the dealer, with programming, is going to cost you $200. And if you lost that only key, it’ll cost three times as much to replace the security module.

If you are looking for a nice Accord sedan in beautiful condition at a good price, then this car is hard to beat. The Buy It Now price is $500 less than the most similar Accord recently sold on Ebay: $5,500 Accord and that didn’t include free delivery or their $199 document fee! Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since no dealer is going to risk losing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure he has some “people” bidding on it for him. Especially those auctions that are private listings where it says “User ID kept private.” Also, because my reserve is close to the Buy It Now price, don’t think that you will get a much better deal if you just keep bidding it up instead of using B.I.N., especially if you need it delivered.

TERMS OF THE AUCTION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Since this car may be advertised locally, auction can be canceled at any time (unless auction ended early with BUY IT NOW) due to prior sale without liability to any bidder. A down payment of $500 (plus any additional delivery charge) is required within 3 days of the close of the auction, balance due in cash on delivery or certified funds on delivery if I deliver it or you pick it up, or before it’s dropped off at the transporter if a shipping company is transporting it, but no later than 7 days after the close of the auction without prior agreement. I accept bank or certified checks, money orders, credit cards through PayPal (accepted for down payment only). If paying balance with funds other than cash, buyer to fax copy of monetary instrument no less than 24 hours before picking up vehicle.

The car is sold as is. Buyer is welcome to inspect car BEFORE the end of the auction or to have someone check it out on your behalf provided you authorize whoever is checking the car to provide me with a copy of the results. I have tried to accurately describe this car, both mechanically and cosmetically but you can expect a certain amount of minor flaws on ANY used car including squeaks, rattles, drips, nicks, chips, scratches, blemishes and any other marks that are consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. There is no possible way to include all minute details and imperfections, however, I believe my listing accurately depicts this vehicle and if there are any issues they are noted in the description. Also remember that a vehicle is made up of thousands of mechanical parts and components and in an older or higher mileage used vehicle a part that is working fine now may go bad the next day, in a week, or a month from now. It’s nearly impossible to tell when a particular part or component will fail as most don’t exhibit prior symptoms, however, proper preventative maintenance as this car has received, can prevent most problems or breakdowns from happening.

In fairness to all bidders the reserve price will not be disclosed so please don’t even ask.

Buyer responsible for transportation and car must be paid for in full before it can be released. May deliver. Email or call for delivery quote or for any other questions. atikovi@email.com Maryland and District of Columbia dealer. Phone 202-246-5201. Please do not bid if you don’t intend to buy.

FREE DELIVERY TERMS: Free delivery within 500 miles of the Washington DC area if bidder purchases vehicle with Buy It Now. (35 cents per mile for additional miles as shown in MapQuest.com from zip code 20001 to your address.) That is still the same rate as when I started on Ebay 16 years ago. Remember, the Buy It Now option disappears once the reserve price is met. The Buy It Now price is $4,995.

AUCTION ENDS: 10:00pm sharp, EASTERN TIME Sunday September 25th unless Buy It Now is used.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR QUICK SALE: DOUBLE THE FREE DELIVERY RANGE: Use Buy It Now before the halfway point in the auction, 10:00pm EASTERN TIME Tuesday September 20th and I will double the free delivery miles to 1,000 miles total.
