This car was donated to the Purple Heart Foundation to raise money, and I purchased it; hauled it to my house, washed it off, vacuumed it out, checked it over (I'm a Honda mechanic), drove it around a bit, and now here it is - up for bid.
This car has ONLY 50k ORIGINAL MILES!!! (50,847 to be exact).I can't believe how good it drives, it's so smooth and tight and straight. I've never driven this body style of Civic (88-91) with this low of miles.
You always hear "some little old lady owned it and only drove it to church on Sunday".Well, I'm going to tell you that some little old man owned it, because when I was cleaning underneath the driver seat, I found a really old pair of little old man shoes - size 7.5They are included in the sale of the car a souvenir.***UPDATE 10-5-16*** - I talked to the original owner. He is indeed 80 years old. He lives in Wilmington Deleware. He lost his license because he has dementia, so he no longer had a use for his car. He told me he bought it new from the Honda dealership with his mother shortly after his father died. He said that every 6 months he had the car serviced at a local mechanic. The reason the paint looks like it does is because he said where he lives he doesn't have a garage, so it sat outside; only recently he bought a car cover for it. I offered him back his shoes that I found, and he told me to find a good home for them. I will give the winning bidder the original owners phone number, so you can talk to him if you would like. He was very happy I called him.
The original owners manual and warranty book come with the car. Inside the front cover is the original owners name, address, and purchase date, along with where the car was bought from new.
One thing I noticed is that the steering wheel and gear selector have absolutely NO wear. I've never seen a steering wheel or shifter on a 88-91 Civic that looked like this. The fact that the car has only 50k miles on it shows here. Another point of note: the cigarette lighter has never been used!
The car has a NEW battery, fresh oil change, distributor cap and rotor, plugs and wires, new exhaust system.
Tires have good tread.
Now, on to the flaws.**The paint is faded, and no longer very shiny, as you can see in the photos. The paint on the roof is the worst part, as it's peeling off and there is some surface rust.**On the driver side rocker at the end, in front of the rear wheel - there is a decent rust hole. I have no idea why this rust hole is as bad as it is, as underneath the car is nearly flawless. On the passenger side, this area is perfect!?! THERE ARE NO OTHER RUST HOLES ON THE CAR, AND UNDERNEATH IS FACTORY UNDERCOATED WITH NO RUST!**The passenger rear door won't open.**The hood release lever has the cable unconnected from it. Pull the cable to open the hood.**The AC doesn't turn on.**Drivers seat has a spill mark on it, but would probably shampoo out.**The floor mats are like stuck onto the carpet - hey, they wont' slide around on you! There might be some other flaws here and there, but those are the ones that stick out the most.
