2009 Honda Fit Sport, Original Owner. Honest Car, Some Dings, Mechanically Clean
2009 Honda Fit Sport Automatic Description
This is an honest car with cosmetic wear and tear but a solid mechanical heart. Perfect for your first time driving son or daughter, but also great if you've been around the block and want something that is surprisingly roomy, comfortable and utilitarian; utterly reliable; gets good mileage; is fast enough for any highway on-ramp or passing but not so fast that it encourages hot rodding; and is very safe (air bags front and side, along with anti-lock brakes).
I bought this car new in 2009 from Scott Honda in West Chester. Had it serviced regularly there for several years, but when it became my daughter's daily driver and she took it out west, it suffered the usual misfortunes of a young driver: a clipped right side mirror, a left rear crunch from an anonymous hit and run in a parking lot; various scrapes and minor tree sap; and something wet she left in the trunk a bit too long (I have no idea what it was, but there's no smell).
On her way back home at the end of a year and a half, she hit a patch of ice on the interstate and slid onto the right shoulder and into the mud, taking the right lower skirt with it. She was unhurt, and the car started right up. When she got home, I took the car in to have our local repair shop look underneath. A couple of replacement clips took care of a belly pan that had come loose, and that was that.
She didn't have any of these other things fixed - it's tough to justify -- let alone afford -- cosmetic repairs when you're that young and just starting out. But to her credit, she kept the interior pristine (except for an abused driver side front floor mat); ; learned to have the oil changed at the right time; keep registration and inspections current; and ponied up for new tires each time a particularly nasty pothole reared its ugly head. If there is anything I don't like about the car, it's those tires: they're low profile, and just terrible when confronted at speed over crumbling infrastructure.
I also see a spot of rust at the top of the passenger side rear wheel well.
All the electrical and mechanical systems work as new, even with 119,210 miles on the car, and you can see that the oil is still at 80% -- she's got a good ways to go before it needs to be changed. The interior really is very, very clean, from seats to dash. All the other mats are good. The front tires are not brand new but recent; the rear tires will probably need to be replaced sooner rather than later.
It's a bit sad to sell it because it has protected my daughter and the two of them have been on many adventures, but my daughter's next adventure is in New York City and that's no place to own and drive a car.
I think this little Fit will take care of you and yours just as well.
Kelly Blue Book places the car's value somewhere between $4,674 and $5,485, so I've set the starting price at the bottom of that range.
Happy to answer any questions or provide additional photos if you'd like.
Good luck bidding.
