1996 Honda Civic Civic CX Hatchback 3-Door Description

This is a one owner, well maintained, 1996 Honda Civic Hatchback CX that I bought new from the dealer.There have been no mechanical alterations to the automobile.I did remove the rear seat as you can see in the pictures and installed a floor. This makes it the perfect Big Box Store/Shopping vehicle.The original seat and hardware come with the car if you wish to reinstall it.The car looks very good from about 10 feet. The roof and hood have more of sheen than a shine but the sides of the car still have almost a factory shine.There are a number of small flaws as you can imagine after almost 21 years.The front plastic bumper cover is pretty marred up (see pics).This car is a pleasure to drive. I would not sell it but I bought an old 4WD CRV so I could make it up my half mile gravel drive in the winter and now I have 4 vehicles for only 2 drivers.

The good:This car runs and drives almost like new.It has seen regular maintenance.The engine is smooth, the transmission shifts perfectly.The car goes straight down the road just as it should with no vibrations.Soon after I bought it I put seat covers on the front seats and I have only recently taken them off so the front seats are very clean.This is a no smoking, no fast food car.The windshield was replaced less than 10,000 miles ago so it is very clear.There is less than 5,000 miles on the matching set of tires.I have installed a new Kenwood single CD AM/FM radio with Aux and USB inputs. Gas mileage is always in the 30’s.The air bags have never been deployed.

The not so good:The check engine light is on.I had the code read and they said the catalytic converter needs to be replaced.I have not bothered to do this because it runs fine and I live in an area which does not require emissions testing.If you live where they require emissions testing you would have to replace the converter before you could pass inspection.

The car is due to have the timing belt replaced.If you do this right, replacing all the other belts, hoses, and water pump it will run you about $850 - $1000.If you want, after you give me a deposit, I would have the work done at the local Honda dealer and you could just reimburse me whatever the bill comes to.

This summer the air conditioner started shutting down after about 45 minutes or so on very hot days.It starts working again after a while but I have not had it trouble shot.

I hit a deer with the car about 16 years ago and some cosmetic damage was done.There was no mechanical or structural damage done to the car.The plastic font bumper cover was replaced as was the right front headlight assembly. The hood was dented and repaired.
