In Illinois, only the Department of Motor Vehicles issues 30 day license plates for $10 and you must go to their facility in person to obtain this. If you are intending on paying with a check it would be preferable to obtain one from a national bank that also has a branch in the Chicago, IL area otherwise I would need to wait until the check cleared before releasing the car and title.
