2000 Honda Insight Description

THE GOODHere is a rebuildable car that gets up to 88MPG! The engine starts right up and runs fine. The hybrid battery was replaced with NEW cells from Bumblebee Battery in August, 2015 ($1,700). I am the original owner. The car has a clean title, other than a salvage title in Pennsylvania since the insurance company totaled the car. Title has no liens or bank loans. It had all the required maintenance done over the years, like timing belt, brake fluid, injectors, clutch fluid, coolant change, oil changes, etc... It seems to steer and drive OK in my driveway. This car is made of aluminum so there are no major rust issues. The Insight has a cult following if you search the Internet and will hold it's value over the years.
THE BADAnother driver pulled out on my son and left him no option but to hit him head on. With the airbags removed, the car is legally driveable in Pennsylvania and will pass Pennsylvania state inspection if properly repaired. I am the president of our local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and build airplanes. I would like to fix my baby myself, but have too many other projects. Based on my mechanical knowledge, to be legal, the car needs:
- Airbags removed (but not replaced)- Bumper repaired or replaced- Radiator support pulled out (Does not have to be perfect. Can be done with a come-along)- Radiator inspected and straightened if necessary (Looks pretty straight to me)- AC condensor straightened and repaired if even necessary- Fenders replaced or repaired by thermal welding and/or fiberglass- Headlights replaced or repaired by thermal welding- Various other straightening of support brackets and mounts
This is an As-Is, Where-Is transaction. There is no warranty. I have not inspected the frame or bumper mounts, but believe that if they are not intact, they can be re-shaped as necessary. The AC did not work before the accident. There is no guarantee the alignment is straight. However, since the car was mainly hit dead center, the alignment probably was not affected. The radio does not work.
Buyer responsible for all shipping costs. I will help coordinate with the shipper to load the car on the truck. Since the car is driveable it can be driven onto the truck carrier.
Buyer must make payment and the payment must clear the bank or PayPal prior to the car being shipped/picked up. Buyer is encouraged to inspect the car prior to the sale.
