Up for your consideration is my "baby", my "summer toy". I am only the second owner and I've owned this car for the last 14 years. I don't understand the "Auto Check" report saying there have been 4 owners as I ran a car fax on the car in 2003 and it showed 2 owners--one in New York on 1/31/1993 and the second in Michigan (me) 10/23/2001. Carfax, which is more detailed, lists only one "titled to a new owner" and that was me in 2001. When I first purchased the car, I was in my early 50's, and my wife and I drove it often during the summer months. The older we've gotten, the less it's being driven and in the last three years I put less than 400 miles per year on the car. For the amount it's being use, I can't see a reason for keeping it, thus the reason I'm selling it.
The M line was Infinity's mid line luxury with a sticker on the convertible of about $35,000 ( 25 years ago). The M line was only produced for a few years and only 2,500 convertibles were made in each of it's two years of production....1991 and 1992. The car should be a collectable, but for some reason, at this time, has still is not become one. There is a great article about the M30 written by Richard Truett for the Orlando Sentinel Online. He states, " Even if the M30 had been designed from the start to be a convertible, and even if Nissan had taken on the entire job of manufacturing, it's hard to imagine where any improvements could have been made."
This is a great peppy convertible that comfortably seats 4 adults. Leather in the rear is like new, front seats show wear but there are no holes, cuts or tears anywhere in the car. This car has never seen winter as the first owner, in Buffalo, N.Y., stored the car in winter and I have also stored the car (in a heated temperature controlled space) all winter long. The car starts and runs like a new car--it has Infinity quality. The car has never been in any kind of accident and the only flaw on the body is a small crack in the lower front bumper, caused by one of those concrete parking bumpers that was too high. In 14 years I have only had to do general maintenance....oil changes, tires, alignments, brakes and last year a new battery. The air is super cold and has not even needed a charging.....it's almost never used. The engine (picture shows the 25 year old engine as it looks--not detailed, not even washed off) and trans have had no problems and no work done on them.
I have not seen another M30 convertible on the roads of metro-Detroit for years (even when driving this in the famous Woodward Dream Cruise) and that is the car's main problem. Since so few were made (2,500) and now 25 years later very few are left, finding any parts becomes a problem. A number of years ago I went to the dealer for an oil change and a few repairs, I got a $250.00 bill and only received an oil change. Everything else was time spent to find problems with a note that parts are not available.....it was the last time I went to the Infinity dealer. There are a few problems: the dash switch to open the trunk, does not work(you need to use the key), the lifts to hold up the trunk are bad and don't hold up the trunk lid---I use a stick, and the convertible top does not automatically work with the one button touch...I have to do it by hand. It's really neat when it works but there were no parts to fix it. A person who is a good mechanic or who knows one could probably find the needed parts on line or at a junk yard and have a great car for many more miles. These cars were made well and should go 200,000 or more and this car has only 74,912 in 25 years.....not bad!
Good Luck bidding.....A very rare Infinity Luxury convertible, in good running condition, for only a few thousand dollars. How far wrong can you go?
