We purchased this Trooper in November 2015 for my wife. She wanted the four-wheel-drive because of the previous winter. She also wanted something that would be easy to load large bundles from the warehouse store into. Since these are rebadged as an Acura SLX, it provides Acura quality for an Isuzu price. She found the vehicle comfortable to sit in, easy to drive, provided plenty of grab handles and the 80/20 rear door simplified loading all but the biggest items. The interior was showroom condition with the rear cupholder still in the plastic bag. She was also very happy to learn that, unlike most four-wheel-drive vehicles which recommend that you do NOT run them in four-wheel-drive in the rain, the Trooper, due to the Torque On Demand system, actually recommends using the four-wheel-drive in the rain for better traction. This, obviously, provides a little more security and safety.
Despite the low mileage and the fact that my wife drives only about 1000 miles a month in it, because we live in a rural area I insisted that our local, trusted, repair shop go through it for any eventuality. So less than one year ago, and about 1200 miles, it got new windshield wiper blades front and back, oil and filter, power steering flush, brake flush, rebuild front brake calipers, replace brake pads with ceramic units, replace spark plugs, replace coil boot set and replaced thermal fan clutch. We also put new tires on it and had the wheel alignment checked. Also added vent visors on all 4 doors. Vehicle was garaged during our ownership.
While my wife was very happy with her Trooper, she was disappointed in that the Trooper S did not have the heated/power seats like the LS model; something she felt would help her joints in the winter. So, when she found a low mileage 2002 LS, she bought it. Hence, this one is available.
