2001 Isuzu Rodeo Description

Here, for your consideration is, what may arguably be, the absolute Holy Grail of Isuzu Amigo’s and Rodeo Sport’s:

2001 Isuzu Rodeo Sport, V6, 4X4, 5 Speed manual, convertible, white in color, and one of only 187 Iron Man Triathlon Editions produced in 2001.

The Iron Man trucks were available in either black or white, with either an automatic or a manual transmission.

I personally have only ever seen 3 of these come up for sale in recent years, two of them were black, one was white, and all three were automatics.

That said, and for any of you who have been searching, you definitely know how rare this thing is.

"For serious off road capability, Isuzu offered the Ironman Edition Rodeo Sport which came standard with a DANA 44 rear end, Intelligent Suspension control (ISC), limited-slip differential, larger tires than the LS model, and adjustable shocks for off road. These are the rarest of Amigos, Isuzu only producing about 288 in 2000, 187 in 2001.

I purchased this truck out of rural Kentucky with the intent of turning it into an Outer Banks, NC beach cruiser, to include a 3” Old Man Emu lift, big tires and wheels, snorkel, ARB bumper, etc. …

I drove the truck home 600 miles, from Kentucky to Northern Virginia, and the truck drives like a dream, with plenty of power, smooth ride, good braking, very nice suspension, and no warning lights to speak of.

I averaged roughly 19-20 MPG overall.

There are no leaks, no smoke, no issues.

Synthetic oil and filter change just completed.

Newer Bridgestone Dueler H/L 245 70 16 tires are fitted to stock aluminum wheels, with the usual “center cap sandblast effect” intact

The Rodeo currently shows 162K miles on the clock, and though is has some scuffs and scrapes here and there, it presents quite nicely overall.

The hood, the drivers side fender and door were subject to light hail at some point in time, but I have recently repaired the hood, and it is currently in white primer.

The original shocks on the truck were replaced at some poin, as the ISC shocks have been unavailable for quite some time now.

As for the top, I have the soft top frame only, but the truck is currently fitted with a really nice aftermarket hardtop made by Rally Tops (http://www.rallytops.com/isuzu/amigo.html) 2 keys are included.

The radio is a “period correct” Sony CDX-GT310.

The cigarette lighter has been replaced by a dual USB jack w/ illumination.

The Yakima rack is newer, and the Curt basket is NEW.

The undercarriage is pretty clean, with the obligatory surface rust here and there.

The clutch is strong, and currently engages at mid-travel in the pedal.

The spare tire is the unused original.

The interior is nice, but I have removed the carpets and the rear cargo area plastics with the intent of replacing them with better examples.

The aluminum step rails have been removed, but they, along with the carpet and interior plastics, are included in the sale of the truck.

Given the pedigree, I am currently on the fence as to whether restore or to modify the truck, and since I purchased it to modify, I thought I would offer it up for sale, for any collectors who may be searching for one.
