1997 Jaguar XK Description

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1997 Jaguar XK8 Convertible. It's worth saying that, if you're looking for the cheapest way into an XK, this car deserves your serious consideration. I've been selling cars on ebay for six years at 200+ cars per year and this is the first XK I've been able to get my hands on. I honestly don't see too many come through on the wholesale end, and the ones I see are your typical low mile /high priced examples. Finding one that has actually been driven and doesn't cost a fortune is very, very unusual. I would rate the exterior of this XK8 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking Jag. It is finished in classic British Racing Green over tan with a matching tan soft top. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this specific XK8, the paint is beginning to fade on the hood and there are a few scratches and marks here and there as you walk around the exterior. On the whole, she looks good. The BRG finish shines nicely overall and appears smooth as glass. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a nice set of matching Continental's with good tread all around. The tan soft top shows well for it's age and does not appear to leak. Please take your time to check out each of the photo's carefully.

I would also rate the interior of this Jag to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The carpets show well for their age. The tan leather seats show minimal wear and are comfortable throughout the interior. The wood veneers show well for their age and really remind you that you're driving a British roadster. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors and power convertible top all work properly (although the switch to the top doesn't stay put due to a broken tab, most likely). The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. I can hear the a/c compressor turn on and off as needed but the mild weather makes it hard to tell if the air conditioner is working effectively so assume it will need charged next season. The heater works properly. The audio system is original and sounds good. The display is unreadable but it's not hard to figure out how to use without being able to see the audio display. The boot is surprisingly spacious for a roadster and is clean. The original convertible top cover is included. Again, please take your time to check out each of the photos.

Mechanically, this XK8 appears to be in good running and drving condition. The 4.0L V8 engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke, although my nose tells me that the valve cover gaskets seep oil (which is common as these cars age). The The suspension feels tight, as far as the shocks and such go. Driving this car, it's apparent that she's due for new bushings as you can hear some rattling around over bumps and such. I don't know which ones you'll need, so figure all of them. Steering and braking feel good. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. I've seen an ABS light once but it only came on once and hasn't come back. There have been no other idiot lights on. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with no issues. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with no complaints. Like I said previously, this car is probably the cheapest way into an XK8 you're likely to find. She needs a little love to be her best but you can deal with all that as it comes and beats the heck out of paying a fortune for a pristine, low mileage one. This Jaguar is a fresh new car trade and has a current PA safety and emissions inspection good through the end of December, 2016. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
