1960 Jaguar Other Mark IX Saloon Description

1960 Jaguar Mark IX

As I search EBay often, I am very surprised at how many barns we have in this country as many ads list cars as “a barn find.” As you can see from my photos, this vehicle was well preserved in this real barn for over 25 years in Clearwater, Florida where it spent all but 3 years of its life. It is a very original and complete car to begin with and is all numbers matching. The person I purchased the car from contacted me as he had heard that I was a private Jaguar collector and was very concerned that the car went to a good home as this was his father’s car, who has since passed away. His dad purchased it in July of 1968 being the 3rd owner and was from England and was a Jaguar mechanic. At this point I have 17 cars and do not see me getting to this one for years so I have decided after 3 years to put it up for sale.

The car is very solid with no rust at all in the floors or frame. All the factory welds can be clearly seen and the trunk, engine bay and most of the body looks to be the original paint. The only rust on the car is at the bottom of the doors, easily repairable. As far as I can see, the car is at least 98% complete including the spare tire, jack, original radio, air cleaner and door tool trays, but as usual, the tools are missing. There are no signs of any collision or rust repair on the car. I do have a set of NOS mufflers and a few other new parts that are included. I was told that the last job his dad was doing was rebuilding the carbs before he got sick. They look great but should be checked before installing them.

As you can see from my photos, I taped the hood down the middle and washed, lightly buffed and waxed the left side to see what it would look like and was very surprised. The rest of the car is as it left the barn. I do not think this car needs to be restored, but would do all the mechanics to make it run and drive safely and show it as a true survivor car.

I have set a very low reserve as I also want the car to go to a good home. The car rolls and steers easily and is 98 % together but I will also aid in the packing of parts and shipping any way I can. Serious buyers can call me at 813-961-7836, Tamps Fl. I prefer no emails as many times they can be misinterpreted.

Thank you and best of luck with this fine car. Good luck and good bidding.

Please serious bidders only. Ask all questions prior to bidding. As with any purchase I highly recommend you come and take a look at this car. More pictures are available upon request.
