1970 Jaguar XJ6 Description

1970 Jaguar XJ has been fully gone through and can be driven anywhere! The car has been in my possession for approximately 8 years. This is a classy car and the most bang for the buck in the classic car market right now. It turns heads everywhere it goes. The car drives straight, rides smooth and begs to be driven on the highway. Brand new tires, correct size 205/70R15. Here is a video of the car at start up and driving:

Body: Body is in very nice shape and rust free. It was repainted by the previous owners and all the panels line up and gaps are even. All of the Glass is good and intact. Brand new rear windshield seal installed and the new windshield seal is included with the sale of the car (not installed). It doesn’t leak but should be replaced in the near future. All of the chrome and trim is in very nice condition. I have attached a pic of a paint chip that can be easily touched up by the rear window seal and some paint runs on the lower driver’s side rocker panel. The runs can be color sanded out. I have included these pictures in order to disclose any imperfections I have found with the paint.

Brakes: All of the brakes have been rebuilt and/or replaced. Extensive amount of work has gone into this car to make it a safe driver. The power brake booster was rebuilt, a new master cylinder was installed as well as all four brake calipers were rebuilt within the last year. New rotors and pads all the way around as well as new front and rear brake hoses. This is a big job to do on these older jaguars, so the new owner will have the assurance that the new brakes will last them for a good while.

Drivetrain: The car sports a healthy crate Chevy 350 cu in. mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. New Holley 390cfm carburetor. Very reliable, easy to maintain and plenty of power. New Electric Fan, the car no longer has the flex fan as shown in the pictures. The car stays cool in all weather and doesn't overheat. The speedometer cable is not hooked up but I believe there are adapter kits to go from the Jaguar speedo to the Chevy transmission. The drive shaft and half shafts all have new u-joints.

Suspension: The suspension is solid and doesn’t squeak or make any unusual noises. With several new bushings throughout.

Interior: The interior is presentable but could use some attention. The upper headliner surround pieces have been reupholstered in black. The driver seat is still very comfortable but the bottom straps for the passenger seat are worn and it sags in the middle (there is a small pillow stuffed beneath the seat to keep it from sagging). The top of the rear seat has some cracking due to age and sun damage. All of the power windows operate. All of the dash instrumentation panel lights work.

Things to note: Engine and trans leak a few drops, nothing major. We bought this car with the fuel tank on the left side (driver) inoperable, it had not been in use for an unknown amount of time. The car only uses the fuel tank on the right side. The AC seems to have worked at one point not too long ago but the lines are free of refrigerant and the Sanden 508 AC compressor leaks from the fittings. The AC Compressor clutch does engage when the AC is turned on. I suspect the AC only needs a service and recharge. The heater is all there and all the knobs turn freely and engage but it doesn’t blow air through the vents, maybe a bad blower motor? The AC faceplate was stolen but the stereo system and speakers do work.

I have tried to disclose all information to the best of my knowledge. This is not a concours d'elegance winner and obviously the low price reflects that. It is however a great car to enjoy and restore as you drive it. This is one hell of a car for the price for someone looking to get into the classic car scene and super reliable. Feel free to ask any questions. I will gladly show the vehicle to local bidders. Serious inquiries only.

The car has been relisted because the buyer and I could not come to an agreement on shipping schedule. The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping and all costs. I will be very clear; I will release the car to the transport company only after all funds (whether wire transfer or paypal) have been transferred and "hard posted" into my account. If you are not willing to cooperate and wait for the funds to fully transfer, please do not bother buying the car.
