Fun car to enjoy and drive- great for summer with the top down- comfortable, luxurious, and stylish. Imagine cruising up the coast, top down, wind whistling by as you carve up the curves like nothing. With the matching top boot installed when the top is down the car is very elegant. This is the last year of this classic XJS design- some Jaguar enthusiasts claim this is the best year of this model. The car has ultra low miles and is in nice overall condition.. Offered at a great price- compare to the others out there and decide for yourself.
1996 Jaguar XJS convertible. Beautiful maroon over oyster leather interior and tan top. 4.0L 6 cylinder engine and 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission. Has an ultra low 50,032 original miles. The car has been stored unused in an underground garage (in California) for approximately the last 4 years- owners were busy professionals with other cars and this one was never used. Ready for a new owner to enjoy- virtually impossible to to find with this low mileage.
Please look at the pictures, read the description fully, and ask any and all questions before making an offer. I would be happy to answer any questions- you can Email me through Ebay or call 408 839 5569.

Nice body and paint- overall the body looks very good as you can see in the pictures. There are some dings/scratches/scrapes here and there. To be nit-picky, here is what I noticed: driver side rear wheel well lip has a small dent; lower front spoiler has a small crack in it (like they all do), and the right rear bumper corner has a scrape. (see the pics for all of this). The car was upgraded with 16” Jaguar star alloy wheels with nearly brand new Goodyear Eagle GT tires. Good chrome and glass, and everything seems to work fine including cold AC (the cruise control was not tested). There is a nice Jaguar Alpine sound system with a 6 disc CD changer in the trunk, both of which work perfectly (note- the cassette feature of the radio was not tested- I couldn’t find a cassette….) Interior is in fine shape with only minimal wear. Top is in very good condition as well and needs only a good cleaning; headliner is fine and looks good. The top goes up and down perfectly with no issues.
To check the condition of the engine, fuel system, and emissions system, the car went through a standard California emission test and passed easily. A scan of the test report is included with the pictures- it shows measured HC, CO and NO levels far far below the maximum levels. This test was run on May 13, 2016 and the results have automatically been sent to the California DMV so a new owner in California can easily register the car. And if it can pass California emissions, it can pass any other state's tests too.
As mentioned above this car has been sitting for some time and was not used regularly. The engine compartment is spotlessly clean, just as you would expect for a 50,000 mile car (and it was not cleaned or even dusted off for the pics).Engine and transmission are both dry underneath- no apparent leaks. The car seems to run and drive fine- steers straight, stops straight, etc., it was test driven for approximately 30 miles. It is way overdue for typical service/maintenance- change all fluids, install new belts, etc.,.- all of which should be done by the new owner before regular use.
The car comes with 2 ignition/door/trunk keys, 1 key for the gas filler lock, 1 keyless remote, and a full set of owner’s manuals in their original Jaguar valise. Also included is a matching top boot- the cover that goes over the top when it is in the down position
The car has a clean California title. If you are a California bidder, please read this: during its storage it was not put on DMV non-operation status so there are approx $225 in back registration fees that will be due when you register the car. This only applies to California bidders.
The car is sold “As-Is, Where-Is” with no warranty of any kind. The car is located in Los Gatos California, zip code 95032 (50 miles south of San Francisco). A $500 non-refundable deposit is due by Paypal within 24 hrs of the auction end. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end via cashier’s check (or cash if buyer is local and picking up in person). If the car is not paid for within 7 days of auction end, the car will be relisted and any deposit paid will be forfeited (it will be kept by the seller). Any changes to these sale terms must be mutually agreed to by seller and buyer before payments become due.
Shipping- The new owner should plan on having the car shipped to his location- as mentioned above it has not been regularly used for some time and is overdue for service and preventative maintenance. I don’t think trying to drive it home is a good idea. Shipping options- in the past I have had good luck with Able Auto Transport (800.340.0951). They seem to have the best prices and can book quickly as well.
If you win the auction or your offer is accepted you are expected to complete the transaction in full, including full payment BEFORE the car is picked up. This is a contract to buy the car, not an appointment to negotiate a different price, etc.,. Any user that does not complete the transaction they agreed to in the first place will be reported to Ebay and charged $100 or actual auction costs (whichever is more)
Please look at the pictures and ask any and all questions before making an offer. I would be happy to answer any questions- you can Email me through Ebay or call 408 839 5569.
