1997 Jaguar XK8 Convertible
1997 Jaguar XK8 XK8 Description
1997 Jaguar XK8 Convertible. We are the Goodnews Mountaineer Garage. We are a 501(c)3 Corporation that takes in donated vehicles and we try to recondition them and give them out to low income families. Sometimes the repairs are too expensive to make sense or they are considered a "high end" car, much too expensive for a low end family to maintain....This one is probably both. This car was donated in running condition with the majority of the warning indicators on, and the message center was full of messages that did not make sense. Like for instance it would say the bonnett was down when it was up and things of that sort. We sent it to the jaguar dealer in Pittsburgh and was told that it needed a computer to repair the issues. It was really expensive and was also on national back order. We were told it was a common problem with this model and we attempted to find a used one. After finding one in California for $800 we agreed to purchase and repair but found out that it was not the right one. We are offering it for sale in its current state with a bad computer at the minimum. It does not start and run now but it will turn over. I am not a Jaguar mechanic and would recommend someone looking at it before bidding on it. There may be other repairs needed. After we found out that we could not afford to fix it, we stopped the evaluation process. The donor indicated that he had a new transmission installed at jaguar recently. The Mileage indicator is only showing 6549 miles...which NOT accuate. The donor estimated it had about 168k before the computer issue. The tires are in decent shape. The top, interior and body seem good also but would recommend looking at before bidding. The car would need towed and again does not run. We are a licensed WV dealer and WV residents would have to pay the 5% sales tax and title fees. We can not sale the car without transferring the title regardless of buyers location. The donors tax deduction is based on the sales price and we have to have a paper trail. $250 good faith deposit is due within 48 hours of auction end. Thanks for looking and good luck. Ron
