1962 Jaguar Other Description

1962 JAGUAR MK2 3.8 LITER SPORTS SALOON. BRITISH RACING GREEN WITH BISCUIT TRIM. 4-SPEED MANUAL OVERDRIVE, WIRE WHEELS, POWER STEERING. RECLINING SEATS. CALIFORNIA BLACK LICENSE PLATE CAR FROM NEW. COMPLETE AND STRAIGHT TO RESTORE. MOST DESIRABLE SPECIFICATION.
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this desirable Jaguar 60's sports saloon. This car was just discovered in a local Southern California storage yard where it was put into storage 30 years ago in 1997. This car arrived here in California in the most coveted specifications and colors for a MK2 of the period. The car today would be a fantastic restored example in it's original spec.
The body on this car is very good. There are no signs of accidents and the panels all align well. There is some rust-through on the hood and trunk which could simply be rectified by panel replacement. There is some typical light bubbling on the bottoms of the doors. There is some minor needed repair at the very front of the rocker panels behind both front wheels. The rest of the car appears hugely solid with excellent floors, boot floor, spare tire compartment, trailing arms pick up, inner and outer rockers, jacking points, etc. with all of it's factory undercoating.
The car's interior appears totally complete except for the steering wheel center escutcheon. It was recarpeted and the seats were retrimmed at some point. The wood is average with some water/sun damage. The car would need a complete interior restoration.
The car is currently fitted with a its original matching numbers 3.8 liter engine block that turns nicely by hand, and may even run with a little bit of work. At one point the cylinder head was changed out for another unit. The car still retains it's correct 4-speed with overdrive transmission. The car's mechanicals look very complete, together, and untouched for 30 years with it's original air cleaner setup.
The glass and chrome on the car are very decent overall but in original condition. The car still retains it's original Lucas headlamps and signature 3.8 liter foglamp setup.Overall, this MK2 is a sensibly priced restoration candidate with great colors and top specifications.
