1969 Jaguar E-Type Description
Selling this great car with no reserve. One bid, and it could be yours.
Be living your dream, 1969 Jaguar XKE Series 2 E-Type Convertible 2 Door Roadster, put a big check off on the bucket list.
When you think of a classic sports car, there are a few pop to your mind, I'm guessing the Jaguar XKE was one of them. The Jaguar XKE embodies that image of class and status, it shows the world who has arrived, and arrived in style.
There is something about the lines of the XKE that is very sleek and most defiantly a she. In our mind, if Marilyn Monroe was a car, she would have been a Jaguar XKE.
That said, what we have here is an 1969 Jaguar XKE or E type, series 2 convertible with matching numbers and has less than 48,000 original miles on it. Although an older restoration, we believe the car is mechanically sound, and a excellent driving car. Granted, it isn't a show car, but is in good shape, with some TLC and it could be a wonderful addition to your family. We've had this beauty only a short while, with its long flowing body lines, the XKE is very pleasing to the eye.
We bought it to drive around town while on brief business trips at our Tennessee location. It is a older restoration, and documented in a laminated binder with service receipts and pictures from the previous owner. He owned it for almost 40 years.
Let me ask a question, when you think of a Sports Car, don't you picture the Jaguar XKE?Undoubtedlythere is a aura and romance that is associated withthe XKE design, and the name Jaguar. This is a good version of the vehicle and speaks volumes about this legendary car design. The price these cars demand, speaks loudly about the value of this car, and where the price can go in the future.
We need the space in our warehouse for inventory, which is why it is for sale, we hate to see it go.
This is a car you can get in and drive, while taking care of the few things that it needs.
In the short time we have had this car, this is what we learned about its condition.
It has the typical door dings, that is, where people opened their doors to wide without care and hit the side of the Jag, only minor paint chipping though. ( See the pictures). Otherwise the body is in very good shape and virtually rust free, looks like it was repainted at one time in the original color. Under the battery tray is the only patched body work we could find. Paint is good with some touch ups here and there, but it polishes up nicely. Trunk with spare is in really good shape and just has surface oxidation. The interior is very good, the black leather seats, panels and sills have no rips or tears. All gauges work, the console and dash are good shape. It had a bad oil gauge. We replaced it with a period matching Smiths 100 PSI oil pressure gauge, but still have original Smiths 60 PSI unit. The rubber weather seals are intact but are showing age.We also added a under hood oil pressure gauge, we found it a handy item to have. It has an aftermarket Kenwood stereo with sub woofer. Original wood steering wheel could use some attention. Horn / turn signals do not work and need repair. The horn looks like it is missing rod and button switch, did not trouble shoot the turn signals.Convertible top is O.K. with a very clear rear window. The only issue is wear marks, (close to being holes), both sides show wear where it appears the frame is rubbing. Spoke wheels with Coker red line tires are in very good condition and drives straight with no vibrations. The 6 cyl 4.2L engine is pretty clean and runs exceptionally well. Basic tune up done, new E3 spark plugs, it comes with an extra set. Recent oil / filter change. The engine sounds great and has good oil pressure, it maintains between 20-50 lbs. The exhaust sings a mellow tone and still looks brand new. A quick turn of the key, and the car starts easy and runs great.
