2010 Jaguar XK Description

This 2010 Jaguar XK is a rock star. Nobody sees it and knows that it's six years old. Nobody sees it and understands that it cost about 1/3 of its original sticker price. No, all anyone sees is arguably the best-looking car of the past decade, one that's bristling with performance and style, and one that surely cost as much as a suburban house. If you want to show everyone you've arrived, this is the car that will take you there. The color isn't just black, it's "Ultimate Black," and I can't argue with that. Whatever rumors you've heard about Jaguar's ancient quality issues, they're long gone now, because this car shows you what $90,000 worth of British luxury sports car looks like. It's miles deep, impossibly glossy, and shows very, very few signs of having been used at all. Sure, with 61,167 miles on the clock, it's obviously been driven, but nobody's going to suspect that you bought it second-hand. It has lived in a warm climate all its life, so rust is obviously a non-issue. Even the deep chin spoiler that hangs perilously close to the pavement hasn't been bashed and abused by steep driveways and parking curbs. Crystal-clear headlights look state-of-the-art and there's just enough chrome to remind you that this is a Jaguar, not a lesser machine. And there's just no mistaking the Jaguar DNA running through its veins, either, from the mesh grille to the twin trumpet exhaust pipes out back, this is a special car.The interior is simply stunning, artistic the way only the British seem to be able to do it. The leather is fragrant and supple, the kind of stuff you figure can't possibly survive the rigors of automotive use on a daily basis, yet here it is. The stitching and contrasting headliner add some welcome brightness to the all black interior, and the wood you see is real, not some plastic imitation. A few touches of chrome and brushed aluminum makes everything you touch feel expensive and yes, while the oddball round shifter that rises out of the center console when you turn the key is different, it works just fine here. Big, round gauges light up with a high-tech look at night and there's a big touch screen in the center stack that controls everything from the heated seats to the navigation system. And even the trunk is a neat throwback to the early E-Type 2-seater coupe, with a big hatch and beautiful chrome rub strips set into the floor.A car that looks like this better be fast, and have no fears, the 5.0 liter DOHC V8 engine definitely delivers. There's 385 horsepower on tap and a big hit of low-end torque that has a distinctly American feel to it, and while it's not much to look at under the hood (mostly a sea of black plastic) the sucker wails when you need it to. A 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters makes you look and feel heroic at speed and Jaguar's famous combination of comfort and competence in the suspension is on full display here. You'll note the undercarriage is extremely clean and unmodified, right down to the giant 4-wheel disc brakes and rumbling dual exhaust system, which is worth the price of admission all by itself. And you have to admit that those 20-inch wheels are simply gorgeous and come wrapped in 275/35/20 Bridgestone performance radials.Stunning to look at, a thrill to drive, and an A-list player at any level, this Jag just might be the biggest bang for the buck in our showroom.
